Showrunner Lauren Hissrich tweeted The Witcher season 2 set photo that appears to show off a familiar location from the first season. The series, based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, has quickly become one of the Netflix's most popular shows and was renewed for a second season before it even debuted. Netflix is also capitalizing on the show's popularity in the form of an animated Witcher spin-off movie that was theorized to arrive sometime this year before the coronavirus pandemic forced much of Hollywood to cease production.

The Witcher was one of many shows affected by the pandemic and its production in the U.K. is currently shut down. The halt was originally announced for two weeks but with the pandemic still ongoing, the shutdown has continued and no date has been set for filming to resume. The two-week timeline was also announced before season 2 actor Kristofer Hivju tested positive for the virus. That positive test resulted in the shutdown and sanitation of production offices.

The Witcher season 2 set photo tweeted by Hissrich appears to be of Brokilon forest where Ciri fled with her friend Dara following the fall of Cintra at the hands of the invading Nilfgaardian empire. The tweet came with a message of hope from the series' creator imploring fans to "stay home and stay safe" while they wait for the world to get back on its feet. Check out the tweet below:

Brokilon forest is home to the Dryads and is a very important location in The Witcher novels. The Dryads have a reputation as deadly archers, keeping enemies like Nilfgaard away and allowing it to become a haven for characters like Geralt and Ciri. In the books, it's where Geralt and Ciri first meet each other and begin to bond. Though the context of their meeting was changed for the show, it's possible that the second season will attempt to adapt that arc in some way and find the characters behind Dryad borders once again.

Of course, it's difficult to say with any certainty that the photo in question is indeed of Brokilon. The Continent is home to many dense and misty forests and Geralt's adventures take him deep into the woods on many occasions. That said, it sure does look like Brokilon and even if the show isn't going back to adapt Geralt and Ciri's time there, the books return to the forest on several occasions anyways. Whether the show heads back there in season 2 or not will be revealed when The Witcher returns, hopefully still in 2021.
