Netflix debuts a new The Witcher season 2 poster from the Luca Comics & Games Convention seeing destiny unite Geralt, Cirilla and Yennefer. The three hail from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels of the same name which revolve around Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who ventures through the medieval world of The Continent, taking down a variety of creatures for money while also finding his destiny linked to the Cintra princess and the quarter-elf sorceress. Henry Cavill leads The Witcher alongside Freya Allen as Ciri and Anya Cholotra as Yennefer.

The Witcher season 2 will take place sometime after the events of season 1 in which Geralt finally met Ciri after the Battle for Sodden Hill, where he believes to have lost Yennefer. In an effort to keep the destiny-linked Ciri safe, Geralt returns to his childhood home of Kaer Mohern and train her in his ways, also learning of the potentially dangerous power she possesses. Meanwhile, The Witcher season 2 will see Yennefer having survived and been captured by Fringilla and the Nilfgaardian forces for unknown purposes.

On the heels of debuting a new trailer for the latest chapter of the series, Netflix has taken to Twitter to share a new The Witcher season 2 poster. Those familiar with the source material will know how vital the relationship between the central trio in The Witcher season 2 poster is going into the latest chapter of the series. Yennefer and Geralt's destiny stems more from their occasionally troublesome relationship in the novels but she would become a mother figure to young Ciri and even assist in training her with her sorceress abilities while living at Ellander, a location set to be introduced in the new season. With The Witcher novels having also seen Triss, another of Geralt's love interests, assisting in watching over Ciri at Kaer Morhen, the new season could see this triangle explored further than season 1.

The Witcher universe is certainly expanding in exciting ways for newcomers to the franchise as well as long-time fans even outside of season 2. With the first spin-off, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, having been a critical success for Netflix, the streaming platform is further building on this popular property with the in-production prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin, a second animated film and a kids-friendly series. In the meantime, audiences can look forward to The Witcher season 2's arrival on December 17.
