Is Jaskier in The Witcher season 2 and when does he show up? Jaskier the humble bard, played by Joey Batey, became one of the most popular characters in Netflix's The Witcher series due to his fun, if contradictory nature compared to Geralt. Because of his songs and personality, he became the audience's eyes throughout season 1 and served as much-needed comedic relief at times. Unfortunately, Jaskier and Geralt parted ways towards the end of season 1 and he hasn't been seen since.

Without a doubt, Jaskier is responsible for turning Geralt into a legend on the Continent, making him the famous White Wolf. And although Geralt may never had admitted it to Jaskier's face, the bard (also known as Dandelion in the books) was his friend — his best friend, really — but because Geralt needed to ensure his Child Surprise's safety, he left for Cintra at the end of the season and ultimately found Ciri outside Sodden in the finale. The Witcher season 2 picks up immediately after that battle, with Jaskier still absent.

Thankfully, Jaskier is in The Witcher season 2, but unfortunately, he doesn't show up right away. Because Geralt takes Ciri to his home at Kaer Morhen begins training her, and Yennefer is off on her own adventure (and journey of reobtaining her Chaos after using fire magic at the Battle of Sodden), Jaskier doesn't have a direct connection to anyone's story until later in the season. For those wondering - SPOILERS ahead - Jaskier shows up midway through The Witcher season 2, episode 4. His story intertwines with Yennefer's and becomes rather intriguing.

Witcher Season 2 Trailer Jaskier

Easily one of the most viral aspects of The Witcher season 1 was Jaskier's song "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher," which not only mythicized Geralt in-universe and earned him more coin than he was getting before but also popularized the series in the real world. It was catchy and helped casual viewers identify the show, and it wouldn't feel natural to have Jaskier return without him delivering at least one more song for audiences in season 2 — which he certainly does when he first appears in episode 4.

In the Witcher books and games, Jaskier's story at times becomes deeply rooted in the overarching narrative after Yennefer saves him, particularly with regards to Ciri. While the show (and books) revolve around Geralt, the catalyst for the entire saga is Ciri and all of her mysteries. Jaskier's own story weaves into Ciri's, all the way until the end of the main story. Hopefully this means that Jaskier will also return in The Witcher season 3 and beyond, if there's room for his story to be told.
