New images released from The Witcher season 2 show Geralt, Ciri, and the aftermath of the Battle of Sodden Hill. The first season of The Witcher was released on Netflix in 2019 and became one of the streaming giant's most-watched shows. Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill, is one of only a few monster slayers, known as 'witchers,' still alive. Throughout the first season, Geralt finds himself not only slaying monsters but dealing with people who can prove to be more challenging than the monsters he's being hired to slay.

The end of The Witcher season 1 was an emotional one, which left many fan-favorite characters in some tricky positions. While Ciri and Geralt finally found each other after days of searching, the pair know that a perilous road lies ahead. As for Yennefer, after having fought in the Battle of Sodden Hill and managing to burn the battlefield in a final attempt to push back the Nilfgard, trailers for the second season have revealed Yennefer has been captured alongside Fringilla. Aside from what fans have seen in the trailers, where Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and the other characters in The Witcher find themselves in season 2 is very much a mystery.

Although there is still a lot to learn about season 2, some new photos have given fans a bit more information about what awaits the characters. Shared by Comicbook, the new photos from season 2 mostly focus on Geralt and Ciri as they navigate the world and learn to work together. Understandably, the photos show a rather somber set of characters, including Ciri reaching out for a lamp, a very serious-looking Geralt holding a sword, and Yennefer and Fringilla together in a dark forest. The set of photos also seems to confirm that Tissaia is still alive. In what appears to be during the aftermath of the Battle of Sodden Hill, Tissaia stands with a single hand up, surrounded by soldiers who had been slain in battle.

Excitingly, the photos also show off Kaer Morhen, the place where witchers, including Geralt, would train. From what we know from the books and game series of the same name, Geralt takes Ciri to Kaer Morhen to train her and keep her safe. At Kaer Morhen, there appear to be several men, presumably all witchers, who greet them on arrival. One of these witchers is Vesemir, a very knowledgeable witcher who trained Geralt when he was younger, who gets his own photos front and center. In a separate photo, Geralt is training at Kaer Morhen by balancing on several wooden posts and practicing with his sword.

With her set to take on a much larger role in the upcoming second season, it's no surprise that the star of the new photos is Freya Allan, who plays Ciri. While these photos provide some exciting additional information about how the second season may start off, it's still unknown how Yennefer will find herself back with Geralt and Ciri, or the sort of monsters that may be waiting for Geralt to fight. What these photos do show, however, is that the second season of The Witcher looks as action-packed and thrilling as the first.
