Two new clips from The Witcher season 2 tease Geralt's mission to protect Ciri and introduce Nivellen. Netflix launched the high fantasy series starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in 2019. The live-action adaptation of the popular The Witcher books and video games was an instant hit for the streaming service. Season 2 of The Witcher is set to debut at the end of 2021 following extensive filming delays caused by COVID-19, and Netflix has done its best to tide fans over by sharing various trailers and teases from the new season.

The first footage from The Witcher season 2 started to arrive during the summer of 2021. Netflix has so far primarily focused its marketing efforts on the new season by highlighting Geralt and Ciri's mission together. The Witcher season 1 ended with Geralt and Ciri finally finding their way to one another. Their time together in season 2 will lead them to Kaer Morhen, the training grounds for the witchers who come from the School of the Wolf. It wasn't until the first trailer for season 2 arrived a few months ago that viewers got to see Geralt and Ciri training at the iconic Witcher location.

As part of Netflix's TUDUM virtual event, Henry Cavill appeared and introduced two new clips from The Witcher season 2. The first clip shows Geralt sitting with Nivellen and playing a knife-throwing game while discussing Ciri's future. The second clip from The Witcher season 2 shows Geralt preparing to protect Ciri from a monstrous threat. Check out both clips below:

Nivellen's introduction in The Witcher season 2 has long been expected, as Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju was cast in the role. Nivellen is an old friend of Geralt's according to this clip. In the source material, Nivellen's cursed look comes as the result of raping a priestess of Coram Agh Tera, the Cult of the Lionhead Spider. The scene from The Witcher season 2 shown above sees Nivellen question Geralt about what will become of Ciri, more specifically if she will go down the route of becoming a witcher. It is unclear how big of a role Nivellen will have in season 2, but him questioning Ciri's future could be a big part of the story.

The second clip from The Witcher season 2 shows a better look at the core of the next chapter of Geralt's story and puts him in protector mode. He orders Ciri to take Roach and leave the place they are staying in because a Bruxa is there. A Bruxa is a powerful type of vampire who traditionally takes on the form of a young human woman. This is one of many new monsters that The Witcher season 2 will include, but the clip ends before viewers get to see Geralt face off with a Bruxa. Still, Geralt protecting Ciri from various threats is sure to be something that happens throughout The Witcher's upcoming season.
