The Witcher season 2 becomes one of Netflix's most-watched TV shows of all-time within a month of debuting on the streaming platform. The fantasy drama is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novels of the same centered on Geralt of Rivia, the titular monster hunter as he travels throughout the medieval landscape known as the Continent and discovers his link to Cintran Princess Cirilla through their destiny. Henry Cavill leads the cast of The Witcher as Geralt alongside Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Kim Bodnia as Vesemir.

The Witcher season 2 picks up from the events of the season 1 finale as Geralt and Ciri are now united after the Battle of Sodden Hill and head to his childhood home of Kaer Morhen to keep her safe from the dangers of the Continent while he grieves the loss of Yennefer. However, the quarter-elf sorceress is actually alive and captured by the Fringilla and later the Elven forces and must find a way to escape and reclaim her magic after losing it in the climactic battle. After a two-year wait for its arrival, The Witcher season 2 finally hit Netflix this past December to rave reviews from critics and this success is stemming even further for the platform.

Just under a month after making its long-awaited premiere, Netflix has brought word that The Witcher season 2 has become one of the streaming platform's most-watched TV shows of all-time. The new chapter of the hit fantasy series has drawn in over 462 million hours viewed in its first 28 days of airing on Netflix, ranking as No. 8 on the platform's Top 10 most-watched English TV shows of all-time. Though this falls somewhat short of The Witcher season 1's 541 million viewers, it's still an impressive figure when compared to other titles on the ranking, as it sits above both You and Stranger Things' second seasons and just behind You season 3.

The viewership success of The Witcher season 2 shouldn't come as much of a surprise given how well the debut outing did on Netflix, becoming its third most-watched series of all-time behind Bridgerton season 1 and Stranger Things season 3. It was also set itself as the third most-watched streaming series of 2019 behind Netflix's hit sci-fi title and Disney+'s The Mandalorian season 1 with over 76 million viewers within its first month of release. However, there is still some level of surprise to its viewership success given the audience response to the new chapter.

Where The Witcher season 2 saw a much more positive critical response, landing a 94 percent "Certified Fresh" approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes in comparison to season 1's 68 percent, audiences were far more mixed in their reactions. Audiences traded in their 91 percent approval rating for a 61 percent for season 2, with many review bombing it for reportedly straying from The Witcher novels in its adaptation of the Wild Hunt and White Flame. Regardless of this mixed reception, The Witcher season 2 has quickly become a hit for Netflix and established a steady future for the hit fantasy series.
