In the world of The Witcher, there are a lot of moving parts. That includes several factions and organizations that have their own goals and ambitions and are often at odds with each other. One such group is the Order of the Flaming Rose.

It is a military religious organization that maintains a significant presence of the northern Nordling lands. Their primary goal is to defend the downtrodden and weak, which eventually extended to fighting monsters. They have had several prominent members over the years, some of whom have played bigger roles than others, and a few of them haven't been as noble as their group's intentions would indicate.

Arthur Tailles Was Scarred By Geralt

Arthur Tailles was a noble-born human who was believed to be destined for greatness in the Order. In addition to the Flaming Rose, he also spent time as a member of the Order of the White Rose before one became the other.

His biggest contribution to either group seems to have been annoying Geralt of Rivia, mainly because he's a witcher and some people do not like that. Arthur even sports a nasty scar on his face, a brutal memento from a failed duel with Geralt.

Roderick De Wett Was A Conniving Rat

On the upside, Roderick de Wett was a knight of the Order of the Flaming Rose. On the downside, he was also a Nilfgaardian Count as well as being quite the condescending jerk and not particularly loyal.

Roderick was a thorn in the side of Geralt, and they faced off on more than one occasion. His achievements earned him several honors from the Order, which confused Geralt, as he saw Roderick as a rat. That's partly why Geralt eventually killed him.

Adalbert Died Of His Wounds

Geralt gives a thumbs up.

In the overall world of The Witcher, there have been more than a few characters named Adalbert. Apparently, it's that world's version of Charlie or Dave. But, there was at least one Adalbert who served as a member of the Order.

Adalbert was a member of the rank-and-file, a soldier who fought several battles for the Order during his tenure with them. Even though he was mortally wounded, he completed his final mission, and he only died after bringing key information to the Grand Master.

Rayla Of Lyria Was An Affiliate Of The Order

First and foremost, it's important to note that Rayla of Lyria was not a full member of the Order of the Flaming Rose. Rather, she was an affiliate member who worked with them on a number of occasions.

Rayla belongs in any conversation about key members because she was a soldier, a veteran, and a mercenary. She was a warrior born, and a boon to any force she chose to fight with.

Polycarp Of Rinde Was Rude To Geralt

As a general rule, being a jerk to Geralt does not end well for anyone. But, in the case of Polycarp of Rinde, the Witcher seemed more inclined to let his rudeness slide a bit as Polycarp was the Master at Arms and was the one who allowed him access to the Order's armory.

Polycarp was considered to be a half-brother in the Order but served them with honor and distinction. He was often seen by the side of Grandmaster Siegfried of Denesle. Fortunately, he allowed Geralt access to weapons, or things would have turned out differently.

Patrick De Weyze Was A Loyalist

Few men were as devoted to the Order as Patrick de Weyze. He spent a significant portion of his life as a knight in service of the Flaming Rose and was generally considered to be the most skilled warriors in their ranks.

He often represented the Order of the Flaming Rose in the annual International Knights' Tourney, but an extreme illness forced de Weyze to take a step back from competition, and he faded into the background as time went on.

Siegfried De Löwe Led A Splinter Faction

Even a group that is supposed to be at least somewhat virtuous like the Order of the Flaming Rose has members who don't live up to the hype. Siegfried de Löwe was certainly one such member.

A knight of some repute, de Löwe created an unnamed splinter faction of the Order that essentially started a protection racket to shake down villagers. He was a prominent member of the Order who garnered little respect from most others in it.

Eric Vogel Was An Author

A long-serving knight in the Order of the Flaming Rose, not much is known about Eric Vogel. He was reputedly an excellent swordsman and may have died in the search for the Lionhead Spider Cultists' lair.

But, he made a huge and memorable contribution to the Order in the form of The Flower and the Flame. He authored a book about the history and practices of this storied organization, something that will continue to be key to their legacy long after his death.

Jacques De Aldersberg Was The First Grand Master

Every ending leads to a new beginning, and that was certainly true in the case of Jacques de Aldersberg. He was the final Grand Master of the Order of the White Rose and was the one responsible for transforming it into the Order of the Flaming Rose.

As such, Jacques became the first and founding Grand Master of the new, more militant Order. For better or worse, the Order of the Flaming Rose would not exist without his leadership and vision.

Siegfried Of Denesle Became The Second Grand Master

The nature of an organization like the Order of the Flaming Rose is that the leadership is always evolving. After the death of Jacques de Aldersberg, Siegfried of Denesle stepped up to fill the role.

Sigfried desired nothing more than to protect people from the horrors of the world. He actually formed a bond with Geralt, something that led to a much more cooperative relationship with the renowned and often difficult witcher.
