DCEU stars Jason Momoa and Henry Cavill come together in this new piece of fan art for The Witcher. Cavill, best known for his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe, traded his cape for a sword last year in the first season of Netflix's The Witcher. Based on the book series written by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher stars Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who travels the Continent on the way to reaching his destiny. The Witcher was a huge success for the streamer, and a second season was announced before the first even premiered.

Cavill shared the big screen with Momoa's Aquaman in 2017's Justice Leaguewhich also served as Momoa's first major DCEU appearance. The two will be seen again in Zack Snyder's revamped cut of the film, but beyond that, it remains to be seen if the two will cross paths in the franchise again. Momoa is set to return as Arthur Curry in Aquaman 2, but Cavill's DCEU future is less clear. Reports surfaced earlier this year that Cavill will return to the franchise in a supporting capacity, and there's a chance he could have a cameo in Aquaman 2.

Until that gets confirmed, however, fans will have to settle for fan art as a way of seeing Cavill and Momoa together. In this new piece from SPDRMNKYXXIII, Momoa stands alongside Cavill's Geralt, both looking poised for battle. Truthfully, Momoa fits right in next to Geralt, making quite the case for him to appear in The Witcher. You can see the piece down below.

Momoa already has experience with fantasy television, having rose to fame playing Khal Drogo on Game of ThronesIn fact, many see The Witcher as Netflix's response to Game of Thrones, so this connection is particularly fun. Momoa also stars on Apple TV+'s See, which is set within a fantasy world. Perhaps Netflix really should consider Momoa for the upcoming Witcher prequel series Blood Originthough his commitments to other projects could leave him unavailable.

Meanwhile, Cavill will return for The Witcher season 2. Production was disrupted earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it finally resumed earlier this month. Cavill shared a behind the scenes photo confirming things had begun once again. It remains to be seen how long fans have to wait before The Witcher season 2 actually arrives on Netflix, but odds are it won't be until late next year at the earliest. Still, The Witcher is easily one of the streamer's biggest shows, so excitement is already quite high.
