Henry Cavill posted an Instagram image showing off his training for season 2 of The WitcherNetflix's The Witcher is based on Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski's books. The series debuted in December 2019 and it was praised by both fans and critics for its fast-paced action scenes, intriguing storyline, and Cavill's strong performance. The show follows the stories of Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), Ciri, Crown Princess of Cintra (Freya Allan), and Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra).

Cavill plays Geralt, a monster hunter whose destiny is linked to Ciri's. Geralt spends much of season 1 traveling the vast Continent, where he battles monsters and forges alliances. Although Geralt is known for his stoic, cold persona, he does occasionally show his softer side. More specifically, Geralt shares a heartwarming moment with Ciri when the two finally find each other at the end of season 1. In turn, this effectively sets up season 2 to further explore their relationship.

Cavill shared an image on Instagram highlighting his season 2 training routine. Cavill's photo shows him in a tank top and beanie, with the gorgeous UK Lake District in the background. He accompanies the photo with a caption that explains his Witcher training focuses on "speed, explosive power, and fitness." While Cavill doesn't go into much detail, he does add that intense, uphill cardio is part of his routine. It's easy to see why Cavill needs to go through such rigorous training; The Witcher is known for its incredible fight scenes, with Cavill's Geralt often in the thick of it all. From Geralt's market brawl that earned him the nickname "The Butcher of Blaviken" to his epic fight against the Striga, The Witcher managed to pack in several of amazing fight sequences within just eight episodes. As such, while Cavill's training routine may be difficult, it will be exciting to see how all the uphill runs pay off in season 2 of The Witcher.

Cavill has put an immense amount of effort into fully fleshing out Geralt. For instance, he wanted Geralt's fighting style to be true to character, which led him to develop Geralt's unique form of combat. Cavill's commitment and dedication to portraying Geralt is clearly unparalleled, which helps make the action scenes all the more realistic. Despite Cavill's standout season 1 performance, it seems that the actor is determined to outdo himself. That being said, it's evident that season 2 of The Witcher will be nothing short of incredible.
