Now that the third season of The Witcher has recently begun filming, fans are excited to learn when they'll get the continuation of the story. There are a number of great characters in this series, but Jaskier is one of the fan favorites.

With a quick wit, comedic way of speaking, and a knack for true friendship and kindness, it's hard not to find something to like about his dynamic character. If his excellent singing voice isn't enough to make him lovable, he's had some great lines that really speak to his unique personality.

Jaskier's Snarky Demeanor

"I love the way you just sit in the corner and brood."

Jaskier talking to Geralt for the first time.

While it may be an unpopular opinion about The Witcher to say that everyone stays true to their original characters in the novel, most fans can agree Jaskier is one of the most beloved in the series adaptation. His character is introduced in the second episode of season 1 when he approached Geralt after he has finished performing.

This line sets up the dynamic of their friendship, with Jaskier being the honest companion and Geralt tolerating his existence. This quote also introduces Jaskier as the witty, comic relief throughout the series.

Jaskier's Serious Side

"You hide in your golden palaces. You beat a bound man too scared to even look him in the eye."

Jaskier in The Witcher.

Jaskier isn't always a barrel of laughs. While he's one of the funniest characters, and the audience waits for his next quippy remark, he has the potential to be serious, displaying complex emotions.

In this quote, he's angered by elves beating Geralt while he's bound, accusing them of being cowards. Though his sharp retort may be due to his fear of getting killed, his way with words shines through even when he's not being funny. His songs as a bard may often be comedic and upbeat, but he certainly can carry a serious tone as well.

When Jaskier Gives Advice

"I don't mean to play priest here or anything, but has it occurred to you that maybe we're merely rubbing salve on a tumor?"

In this quote, Jaskier's humor meets his seriousness. When Geralt is trying to catch a Jinn (or Genie) so he can wish for some peace, Jaskier is the one to point out that Geralt is feeling conflicted about leaving (and acquiring in the first place) his Child of Surprise, and some peace isn't going to make that go away.

While he says it lightly, he's trying to help his friend see that he can't just run away from his issues.

Jaskier's Reliance On Geralt

"Run away. Run away. Geralt!"

Fans of the series probably remember this quote for simply making them laugh out loud as Jaskier flees a meek monster after discovering it in some shrubs.

This scene demonstrates why the audience loves Jaskier so much. He isn't a strong warrior or a powerful witch, but he's a likable companion who has no problem asking for help when it's needed. This quote emphasizes how much Jaskier relies on Geralt's protection, but the scene also reminds the audience that Geralt is just as quick to step in and save Jaskier from whatever he's running from.

When Jaskier Uses Dry Humor

"You're right, this is a shortcut. To death."

The path around the mountain in The Witcher season 1, episode 6.

Leave it to Jaskier to point out the obvious — but in a funny way, of course. In this scene, dwarf companions they're traveling with to hunt a dragon have led them to a shortcut, which happens to be a thin wooden path around the edge of a mountain.

Any of the main characters present (Geralt, Jaskier, Yennefer) could have made it a point about how dangerous the path was, but Jaskier's wit was the best way for the characters to voice what the audience is thinking.

Jaskier's Sensitive Side

"Fine, yes, when I wrote it, it did come from the heart. Perhaps a broken one."

Jaskier and Geralt hugging in Season 2.

In this quote, Jaskier is expressing the feelings that persuaded him to write his song, "Burn, Butcher, Burn" to Yennefer when they reunite in season 2. When Geralt took his anger out on Jaskier at the end of season 1, saying cruel things, Jaskier was deeply hurt by these words.

With this quote, the audience understands fully how betrayed Jaskier felt when he parted ways with his friend. Being scorned by Geralt is the worst thing that happened to Jaskier so far in the series.

When Jaskier is Caring

"What they've done to you and your people is unspeakable."

Jaskier talking to Yennefer in Season 2.

After Jaskier and Yennefer meet again, and he learns she's in hiding because all those with elf blood are being hunted down, he expresses his sorrows over the situation.

While Jaskier is guilty of being satirical and egotistical more times than not, he has an honest heart. Though Jaskier's worst decision occurs while he's helping her to safety, this heartwarming quote leads up to the reveal that he's helping elves in dangerous territory escape to freedom.

Jaskier's Ability To Forgive

"People do stupid things when they think they're trapped in a corner. And they say stupid things. That's what friends do. They come back."

Jaskier walking beside Geralt as he rides.

Though Jaskier spends most of the time in Yennefer's presence insulting her, he chooses to defend her when Geralt decides he can't forgive her for her betrayal. This shows a depth of character.

Not only is he trying to convince Geralt to second-guess his decision, but he's also subtly pointing out he forgives Geralt for lashing out at him before. This quote is one of The Witcher's best in summing up Jaskier's personality, emphasizing his poetic and kind nature.

When Jaskier Is The Damsel

"You don't get to play damsel in distress. That's my job."

Jaskier singing to a mouse in season 2.

Though Jaskier is much more than his humor, some of his most memorable lines are when he's being his often funny self. After he's been saved by a magically drained Yennefer, after being tortured by a rogue mage, he still has time to make jokes.

When Yennefer starts feeling sorry for herself when they need to focus and act quickly, the audience can anticipate a quippy remark like this from Jaskier.

Jaskier's Passion

"I'm scared too. I'm scared that one day the muses will stop speaking to me. Because who are we...when we can no longer do the one thing we were put on this continent to do?"

Jaskier and Yennefer talking in season 2.

First and foremost, Jaskier is a bard. The song he first begins singing in episode two of the series is so well-known it almost instantly became an internet sensation. Jaskier's role as the comedian is only matched by his admiration for music and performing.

When he's connecting with Yennefer over the loss of her powers, the audience understands just how passionately he cares for his art. Though not the most beloved quote of Jaskier's, this one is arguably his most serious.
