A classic fan-designed DLC expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is making the rounds once again, with players hoping for something similar from the game's developer, CD Projekt Red. The detailed outline for an Ofir-focused game expansion takes heavy inspiration from Arabian mythology and Ottoman culture, diversifying The Witcher 3's expansive map even further.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt base game has been supplemented with two sizeable DLC expansions since its first release in May 2015. The Hearts of Stone DLC released later that October, followed by the second and final expansion, Blood and Wine, which released in 2016. Both expansions add around 50 hours of gameplay to the already lengthy main game. The Witcher 3: Complete Edition, which includes the base game and its DLC, can take well over 100 hours to complete. Despite its length, The Witcher 3 fans are still hoping for additional game expansions for the game in the future, as well as a release of The Witcher 4.

Concept art for the imagined The Witcher 3: The Sands of Ofir was created by Alexandra Tokaryuk, and was first shared in 2017. A few of the DLC's images were recently reshared to Reddit by Pewds_Minecraft, inspiring Witcher 3 fans once again. The Sands of Ofir would take players south of the Nilfgaardian Empire, taking place after players complete the last quest in Toussaint. With a whole new region to explore, the concept imagines new armor sets for Geralt, as well as new weapons, monsters, and new characters. Tokaryuk explains the story would see Geralt "face the sultan of The Ofir and pay for the death of [the] successor to the throne." The DLC's royalty includes the sultan Selim the Magnificent and his daughter Princess Nurshah, both with fully designed costumes and backstories. As for weapons, Geralt would be facing the region's new evils with a curved blade used by the Scorpio school. Fans can see more thanks to The Witcher 3: The Sands of Ofir DLC concept Google Drive.

Those wondering about the DLC's origins may be surprised to learn The Sands of Ofir DLC concept was originally created for a school project. Tokaryuk, a student of Russia's Scream School, is believed to have created the now-famous PDF file as part of a graphics design project. Sadly, it seems unlikely that The Sands of Ofir DLC will ever become an official expansion for The Witcher 3, though it's possible the modding community could work with Tokaryuk should they ever want to see their idea come to life.

New DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming later this year, but players shouldn't expect to see any new realms introduced with the new content. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that new Witcher 3 DLC will tie into Netflix's The Witcher series, meaning fans can expect costumes worn by the show's interpretation of Geralt, played by Henry Cavill. CDPR has confirmed the DLC will arrive alongside free new-gen upgrades of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners who already own it. The content won't be locked to new-gen consoles though, with the company confirming they'll still be downloadable for those on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The new Witcher 3 DLC and upgrades will be available in November.
