While CD Projekt Red remains mum about its release plans for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on current-gen consoles, a PEGI rating indicates the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions could launch imminently. The studio last offered an update on the matter in early September during a 2021 earnings overview. At the time, CDPR merely confirmed that Witcher 3's current-gen upgrades remained on track for a late 2021 release. The same held true for the highly-anticipated PS5 and Xbox Series ports of Cyberpunk 2077.

Several weeks have passed without these updated versions receiving so much as a mention, leading many to believe the ports would likely slip into 2022. If the studio does eventually announce a delay to previously set plans, it could only be for the best. After all, the public knows first-hand what happens when the once renowned Polish group rushes to deploy an eagerly-awaited project. In terms of the Witcher 3 upgrade, though, new information suggests the waiting may soon come to an end.

The European rating board, PEGI, recently updated the listings for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition. In addition to its Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One ratings, the PEGI website now boasts slots assigned to The Witcher 3's PS5 and Xbox Series X|S iterations. Release dates for the newest versions point to today, October 19, as the planned due date. Unless CD Projekt Red has a surprise announcement up its sleeve, October 19 likely serves as little more than a placeholder. But the rating itself indicates the ports may arrive in the very near future. A screenshot of the PEGI listing features below:

Whenever CD Projekt Red does share launch details for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports of Witcher 3, a slew of other details will no doubt accompany the news. There's still much about the new iterations that remain under wraps, for instance, such as pricing, specifics about the enhancements, and more. And since the studio has only spoken about the upgrades with respect to Witcher 3's GOTY Edition, the question remains as to whether or not fans who purchased a copy in 2015 will be entitled to the additional bells and whistles.

The third game in CDPR's Witcher saga, Wild Hunt launched in May 2015 to much acclaim. On top of the critical success, the groundbreaking RPG went on to become quite the commercial success, as well. Witcher 3 has surpassed 30 million copies sold as of this past April.
