Geralt and Ciri will look pretty good when they make their debut on the Nintendo Switch as it turns out the resolution for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the Switch is higher than anyone ever expected. Nintendo officially confirmed The Witcher 3 will arrive on the Switch sometime in 2019, surprising fans of the game who never thought such a port was possible.

The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt is the final tale of monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. In the game's story, Geralt searches for his missing adopted daughter Ciri, who is on the run from the Wild Hunt. The critically acclaimed game was a hit for developer CD Projekt Red, and even four years after its release, it remains a favorite among RPG players. When The Witcher 3 leaks surfaced suggesting that the spec-intensive game would arrive on Nintendo Switch, though, many wondered how the game's high-end graphics would get downgraded to play on that system.

CD Projekt Red tweeted the resolution specs for The Witcher 3, which are better than what anyone expected: 540p on handheld and 720p when the Switch is docked.

When compared to other consoles, the Switch doesn't have the same graphics capabilities, mostly due to its mobile nature. For example, the PS4 version of The Witcher 3 is 1080p. However, the fact that Saber Interactive, the developer working on the Switch port, managed to make it work at all, especially in its mobile mode, is a technological achievement one has to acknowledge. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that The Witcher 3 on Switch will take 32GB of storage.

The Switch version will be The Complete Edition, meaning it will include both expansion packs for the game, as well as 16 free pieces of DLC. While Saber Interactive completes the final touches on the port, CD Projekt Red has turned all its attention to Cyberpunk 2077, a game the company says is even bigger than The Witcher 3. The developer blew the audience away when it brought Keanu Reeves to the 2019 Xbox E3 presentation, to showcase the actor's appearance in Cyberpunk 2077.

Although The Witcher 3 wraps up Geralt's story once and for all, the game's port to the Nintendo Switch will thrill players who want to play the game on that system, as well as those who want to play the title on the go. The adventures of The Witcher will continue with a television series, too, so the story of its world is far from over.
