The Witcher 3 star Doug Cockle has yet to play Cyberpunk 2077 as he's waiting for the game to be completely fixed. The actor noted that he's very empathetic toward CD Project Red over its situation, stating that he thinks there's a lot of good stuff in the game that's being bogged down by the bugs and performance issues on consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December after years of anticipation, only to be plagued with an unprecedented amount of bugs, performance issues, and a general lack of polish. To this day, Cyberpunk 2077 is still being fixed. Sony removed the game from the PlayStation Store shortly after release due to the state it was in and has yet to reinstate it, waiting for CD Projekt Red to restore it to a better condition. Roughly half a year later, it seems the game is getting close, but still has a ways to go.

The voice of Geralt from The Witcher series noted in an interview with Wassup Conversations that despite being a gamer, he hasn't played Cyberpunk 2077. On top of just having a generally busy schedule, the actor noted that he wants to wait to play it in the way CD Projekt really intended it to be played, especially because he owns it on a last-gen console. The Cyberpunk 2077 scandal cost CDPR $2 million in refunds, but Cockle is still holding out hope.

"I'm looking forward to playing it eventually, bless them, I love them so much. I felt really bad for them when Cyberpunk came out, I can't imagine how disappointed they must've been in some of the public reaction to the game, because I saw loads of good stuff. [...] I decided I'd also kinda wait, I have a PS4, so I thought I'm just gonna wait it out until CD Projekt fixes everything they wanna fix and then I'll have a smoother experience, I suppose."

Controversy surrounding CDPR's futuristic RPG has continued in recent months, with many being upset that CDPR execs received seven figure bonuses for Cyberpunk 2077 despite launching in an unacceptable state. Various developers also got bonuses, but it wasn't nearly as much as the people at the top who reportedly forced the game out.

CD Projekt Red has yet to provide a clear timeline as to when the game will be fully fixed. The catastrophic launch of Cyberpunk 2077 has seemingly delayed and perhaps outright canceled a variety of projects within the studio, providing striking evidence of just how calamitous the launch of this game was for the company. Many who played at launch would agree that the game was not worth the massive wait; only time will tell if CD Projekt Red can ever truly redeem itself.
