A new Wipeout promo teases the appearance of The Suicide Squad’s cast and director on the game show. After James Gunn was temporarily fired by Disney for offensive tweets, Warner Bros. quickly swooped in to hire the in-demand director, giving him free rein to make any DC project he wanted. Gunn chose the Suicide Squad, a team of incarcerated supervillains who embark on high-risk missions in exchange for shortened prison sentences, despite David Ayer’s divisive adaptation releasing just a few years prior.

Gunn’s Suicide Squad will stand on its own without any direct connection to its predecessor other than a quartet of returning characters: Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney). Besides Idris Elba’s Bloodsport and John Cena’s Peacemaker, who have been featured heavily in the film’s marketing materials, Nathan Fillion as TDK and Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher II are just a few of the fresh faces featured in the follow-up film.

With Gunn’s Suicide Squad fast approaching (August 6 in theaters and HBO Max), the film’s cast will soon be making appearances in anticipation of Task Force X’s second cinematic outing. One of these will be an appearance on the wacky TBS game show, Wipeout, which is regularly hosted by Nicole Byer and The Suicide Squad star John Cena. A new promo teases an August 1 episode of the show featuring the cast of The Suicide Squad, including Melchior, Fillion, and writer/director James Gunn. Watch the new Wipeout promo below:

Cena appropriately appears in costume for the promo, which has been a running joke for the actor throughout the production of the Peacemaker series that will air on HBO Max. In the past, Cena has appeared in costume for various interviews unrelated to the show and has even been photographed leisurely, getting coffee in his full Peacemaker get-up. Gunn has also told tales of Cena taking the costume home to nap in it.

Wipeout is currently one of the wackiest game shows on cable, as it tests its contestant’s athleticism in the most extreme ways imaginable, including its iconic big red balls obstacle. Since the Suicide Squad is a collection of nutty cons with similar senses of humor, this crossover feels natural, coupled with the fact the two share a star in Cena. It will be interesting to see how the cast and creator of The Suicide Squad fare on Wipeout.
