The latest trailer for The Winchesters is teasing the origins of one of Supernatural's most iconic catchphrases. The upcoming prequel series was announced back in 2021, less than a year after the conclusion of Supernatural, with a pilot order officially confirmed by The CW this past February. Developed by Robbie Thompson and narrated by Dean Winchester himself, Jensen Ackles, the show will revolve around the beginnings of John Winchester and Mary Campbell's relationship, exploring how they met and fell in love in the 1970s while hunting monsters together. The Winchesters is set to premiere on October 11, 2022, and will feature a cast that includes Meg Donnelly, Drake Rodger, Bianca Kajlich, Demetria McKinney, and Jojo Fleites.

Leading up to its debut, The CW Network has been releasing short trailers to excite fans, and its most recent one, "Fate," reveals the origins of a familiar catchphrase. It focuses on the chance encounter between John and Mary, in which the former witnesses his first demon and is cautioned to stay away. In the end, John states, "Saving people, hunting things... I was born to do this." Check out the new trailer below:

Fans of Supernatural will recognize those words, which were once spoken by Dean to remind his brother of the "family business." In fact, in addition to that line and Jensen Ackles' return as narrator, audiences can likely expect several other callbacks to the show's long-running and widely beloved predecessor. With so many potential tie-ins, fans looking forward to learning more about Supernatural through John and Mary's history can be sure to watch The Winchesters when it premieres on The CW soon.
