A new image from The Winchesters, the Supernatural prequel show, sees the return of Ruth Connell's Rowena to meet John and Mary. Airing for 15 popular seasons, Supernatural came to an end in 2020, but the world of the show lives on in The Winchesters, which premiered last fall. Set in the 1970s, the prequel follows John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) as they search for their missing fathers and develop a relationship.

As shared by EW, episode 12 of The Winchesters is set to feature a familiar face in the form of Connell's Rowena. Check out a first-look at Rowena's return below:

Ruth Connell as Rowena in The Winchesters.

Rowena first appeared in Supernatural during the events of season 10, with the powerful witch eventually allying herself with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki). Although the character seemingly died on several occasions, she was able to resurrect herself, eventually taking up a position as the Queen of Hell. It's still unclear what role she will play in The Winchesters.

How Rowena Could Factor Into The Winchesters

So far, The Winchesters has seen John and Mary take on a number of formidable threats, and recent episodes have seen the duo attempting to stop the Akrida Queen. Episode 10 of The Winchesters features a few notable developments in this regard, including the arrival of Porter J. Hobbs, the master physician of the Men of Letters. He informs John and Mary that he is capable of creating a deadly neurotoxin that may be able to kill the Akrida Queen for good.

Of course, Hobbs soon reveals himself to be Jack, who was kicked out of the Men of Letters for experimenting on humans. After Jack dies attempting to transplant his wife's consciousness into Mary, the duo is still left with the larger problem posed by the Akrida Queen. With John and Mary's options running out, it's possible that Rowena could be an interesting ally.

Although it's still unclear just how Rowena will be introduced in The Winchesters episode 12, it's possible that she could emerge as a friend to John and Mary, or at least form a tentative alliance with them. With episode 10 ending with the reveal of the Akrida Queen's location, the show is clearly setting up a fairly major confrontation. Thankfully, audiences don't have too much longer to wait before Rowena shows up on The Winchesters, with episode 11 due out tonight, February 21, and episode 12 releasing next Tuesday, February 28.
