Will Poulter discusses the possibility of joining the Star Wars universe as Jedi: Fallen Order’s Cal Kestis or another character. EA and Respawn’s Fallen Order was released in 2019 and is widely considered one of the best Star Wars video games of the past decade. A sequel, titled Jedi: Survivor, is already in the works and set to release in 2023. The first game takes place five years after the events of Episode III and Order 66, following a young Jedi and his droid companion BD-1 as they search for holocrons and combat Sith Inquisitors.

With Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano both having supporting roles in The Mandalorian season 2, and bounty hunter Cad Bane’s appearance in The Book of Boba Fett, previously animated characters have recently been making their live-action debuts on the small screen. Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi continued this trend by introducing Rebels’ Grand Inquisitor alongside the return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. Given its place on the Star Wars timeline, many fans thought Obi-Wan Kenobi would serve as the perfect vehicle for Cal Kestis’ live-action debut. While that never came to pass, rumors still swirl concerning a cameo appearance in Andor or other upcoming projects.

In a recent interview with The Movie Dweeb on YouTube, Will Poulter talked about traveling to a galaxy far, far away. When asked about the physical similarities between him and Fallen Order’s Cal Kestis (a character and, in turn, a game he is not familiar with), the 29-year-old said he would love to join the Star Wars universe. Read what he had to say below:

“I definitely would not say no. I mean I was a huge Star Wars fan as a kid. I can remember wearing like a brown bathrobe and getting a lightsaber (made out of a neon-painted cardboard wrapping paper tube).”

Following notable roles in The Revenant and franchises like The Chronicles of Narnia and The Maze Runner, Poulter will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. With his MCU tenure expected to extend beyond James Gunn’s third (and perhaps final) Marvel Studios film, it’s not hard to imagine Poulter could continue working with Disney on its other high-profile franchise. As a kid who played Jedi as a kid, playing one as an adult will certainly fulfill some childhood dreams.

While Poulter’s talent would benefit Star Wars, Cal Kestis may not be the role for him. The best casting choice for Cal Kestis - and the ones fans are most clamoring for - is undoubtedly Cameron Monaghan, who provided both the voice and motion capture for Fallen Order. It seems unlikely Disney/Lucasfilm would cast Poulter over Monaghan as it would upset droves of gamers. Furthermore, Disney may aim at keeping Cal Kestis’ story contained to the upcoming sequel Jedi: Survivor. Suffice to say, a cameo in Andor or elsewhere risks distracting from its narrative and/or breaking canon.
