During last night's episode of Saturday Night Live, Ryan Reynolds and Tracy Morgan made a surprise appearance during Will Ferrell's monologue. After hosting last night's episode, Ferrell has officially joined the legendary Five-Timers Club, which was originally introduced to the show in 1990 by Tom Hanks and has been referenced multiple times over the years with other hosts. He initially joined the cast back in 1995 and eventually departed in 2002, but has certainly left his mark on the program by providing audiences with some of the show's most beloved and hilarious characters and sketches.

Nowadays, Ferrell has been working more behind-the-scenes as a producer. Earlier this year he ended his creative partnership with producer Adam McKay at Gary Sanchez Productions, who helped to bring a variety of popular comedies into the world such as Step Brothers and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Unfortunately, the box office and critical disaster Holmes & Watson marked the duo's final project together. But, Ferrell isn't planning on slowing down anytime soon. In fact, it was recently announced that he's teaming up with Ryan Reynolds to develop a musical retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol for Apple TV. While they weren't directly promoting the film, Reynolds even made a surprise visit to Studio 8H to see Ferrell host last night's show.

Last night's Saturday Night Live monologue started off with a very happy Ferrell exclaiming how excited he was to be back in Studio 8H before getting distracted by Reynolds sitting in the audience. Though Reynolds plays it exceptionally cool, Ferrell has a tough time staying focused on the rest of his monologue. As the bit goes on, Ferrell becomes increasingly nervous, stumbling over his own words and excitedly asking if its actually Reynolds in the audience. He then starts impersonating Tracy Morgan while talking to Reynolds to help calm his nerves, and funny enough, Morgan makes an appearance not long after to help him out. Check out the full monologue below:

Ferrell has long been one of Saturday Night Live's most popular and acclaimed performers in the show's history. Although last night's episode received mixed reviews, critics all agreed that Ferrell's fifth go-around as a host was a memorable one. Not only that but the guest appearances throughout helped to bring a lively and fun energy into the episode. He fully commits to every sketch that he's a part of, no matter what it's about, and that enthusiasm was clearly felt from viewers as well.

The dynamic between Reynolds and Ferrell at the very beginning seems like a good sign that their musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol will be a treat for audiences everywhere. Both actors have fantastic comedic abilities, as Reynolds has proven numerous times with films like Deadpool, and clearly enjoy each other's company. Having that kind of chemistry will certainly bode well for that movie, and Ferrell certainly knows a thing or two about making a hilarious Christmas movie as well. His monologue for Saturday Night Live gave fans a little insight as to what they can expect from him and Reynolds' dynamic in their upcoming movie, and hopefully, it'll make for a fun new holiday movie.
