Here's what to expect from The Wilds season 3, including its story details and potential release date. Prime Video began its streaming venture with mostly prestige series and then later made a push into other genres, like fantasy, science fiction, and even graphic novel adaptations - but one area that has remained elusive is the young adult corner. Recently, Panic and I Know What You Did Last Summer failed to deliver the same success seen by The Wilds, which makes the latter series an outlier.

The Wilds season 1 was released in December 2020, at the tail end of the first year of the pandemic. Streaming services at the time were booming thanks to people being at home around the world and outside activities, such as movie-going, being limited. That allowed shows like The Wilds, an admittedly engaging show with a great cast and captivating storyline, to break through, which ultimately led to its swift renewal that same month.

Now almost two years later, The Wilds season 2 has been released with an expanded cast and story, bringing in a group of eight boys to rival the survival story of the first season's eight girls. Much of the season is dedicated to unraveling the mystery behind both groups' rescues as well as their efforts to uncover the truth about the Dawn of Eve. While they're successful to some extent, there are still more stories to tell in The Wilds season 3.

The Wilds Season 3 Renewal Updates

The Wilds season 3 hasn't been announced yet, but given the quick renewal for the second season, it stands to reason that, so long as the series' viewership doesn't drop significantly compared to the first season, The Wilds season 3 renewal should come sooner rather than later. Unlike the limitations of other streaming services, Prime Video is capable of giving smaller shows chances to thrive, especially to finish a story. Unfortunately, Panic and I Know What You Did Last Summer didn't pan out, but those were canceled after their first seasons; The Wilds has already gotten a second season and is primed for a third - not to mention, it's potentially less expensive to produce due to its story, cast, and filming locations.

When The Wilds Season 3 Could Release

Since an official renewal hasn't been ordered yet, there's no specific release date for The Wilds season 3. However, judging by the fact that it took only eight months from season 2's renewal to production being completed, especially during a time when many sets were experiencing significant COVID-related delays, The Wilds season 3 could easily match that timeline and be done with filming the third season by the end of the year; therefore, going based on the first two seasons, The Wilds season 3 could release by late summer or early fall in 2023.

The Wilds Season 3 Story Details & Setup

Because of what Leah did to expose the Dawn of Eve program, Gretchen Klein pulled everyone out of their facility and jump-started phase 3, which is seemingly another control group - but this time with the boys and girls combined. Dawn of Eve is meant to show the world that woman are more capable at being leaders than men; it's a hypothesis Gretchen was able to prove on some level due to the fact that the girls survived for 50 days while the boys, due to their behavior, survived only 34 days. But now, presumably, Gretchen needs to prove her ideals by having the boys and girls survive in a new environment together. Of course, while one of the confederates is already known - Seth - The Wilds season 3 will spend some time leading up to the reveal of a second confederate, who's hinted at to be Shelby.
