Screen Rant has the exclusive trailer for the upcoming film Wild Indian starring Michael Greyeyes (Rutherford Falls) and Jesse Eisenberg (Zack Snyder's Justice League). The thriller had its debut at this year's Sundance Film Festival as part of the prestigious U.S. Dramatic Competition section. It will be released in select theaters and On Demand on September 3.

Written and directed by Lyle Mitchell Corbine Jr. in his debut feature, Wild Indian tells the story of two young Anishinaabe boys and how their fates are intertwined. As a teen, Makwa (Phoenix Wilson) and his cousin Teddo (Julian Gopal) murder a fellow classmate and then work together to cover it up. Decades later, and now going by the name Michael, the adult Makwa (Greyeyes) has moved on from the reservation and is trying to put his fractured past behind him. When the man sharing his secret, Teddo (played as an adult by Chaske Spencer from the Twilight series), returns to seek vengeance, Michael will go to great lengths to protect his wife (Kate Bosworth), son, and boss (Eisenberg) from the demons of his past.

Check out the exclusive trailer for Wild Indian below. The trailer sets up the dramatic and explosive film, showing the tension between the two men and how their shared secret affects them throughout their lives. It also presents the diverging paths of the characters, with Michael raising a family, living in a large house, and having an impressive career while Teddo works menial jobs and spends time in and out of prison. This all playing under eerie music and a sermon by a priest seemingly highlighting the film's themes.

Corbine is a member of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa and grew up on and around reservations. This experience created the foundation for the film's story, which depicts generational trauma and violence, persecution, and their lasting effects. The film also features a cast of Indigenous actors - Greyeyes is a member of the Plains Cree and Spencer is a member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux Tribes - giving a voice to those not often seen in Hollywood films.
