Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Marc Blucas has joined Lost and Taken star Maggie Grace in James Mangold's Untitled Wichita Project. The action/comedy stars Tom Cruise and his Vanilla Sky co-star Cameron Diaz.
The title of the film isn't actually called Untitled Wichita Project, it's just a film project that is currently untitled but was originally called "Wichita." Do you see what they did there?
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
"The project centers on a lonely woman (Diaz) whose seemingly harmless blind date suddenly turns her life upside-down when a super spy (Cruise) takes her on a violent worldwide journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source."
Blucas will play Diaz's ex-boyfriend - a fireman - and Grace will star as her sister who is getting married, and whom Diaz has promised to walk down the aisle. I can only imagine that problems arise along the way.
Every time that I write about this film, it reminds me of former Monkee Michael Nesmith's first solo album The Wichita Train Whistle Sings. That has nothing to do with this story, except that it's a damn good album and it involves the word Wichita!
James Mangold's Untitled Wichita Project starts shooting in Boston next month,
