Kim Plath is the Welcome to Plathville matriarch, and fans have had enough of the overbearing mother, who has nine children. From her manipulative actions towards her kids to seemingly having a midlife crisis, season 4's Kim is practically unrecognizable. Viewers are tired of her behavior on the show, and many of them have openly shared that they cannot stand her.
In Welcome to Plathville season 3, "narcissist" Kim decided to keep her younger kids from seeing the older children, and many fans believed that she was the reason why the Plath family was so divided. She always seemed to be stirring up trouble, while painting herself as someone who was innocent of any wrongdoing. Many fans noticed the pattern of Kim using her other kids as pawns, to try and get Ethan to interact with her.
On Welcome to Plathville, Kim is known for her strict parenting, as she would not allow her kids to watch any television shows while they were growing up. She also kept them from seeing other kids their age by homeschooling them. She has ruffled many feathers with fans, after labeling anyone who shows her children the outside world "bad influences." With Kim and Barry's marriage on the rocks, fans are having a hard time sympathizing with her on Welcome to Plathville season 4.
Kim Is Called Hypocritical
Kim has been called a hypocrite by many Welcome to Plathville fans, over her treatment of Olivia Plath. She has shown that she disapproves of her daughter-in-law since season 1 of the show, even going so far as to say that Olivia was filled with evil spirits for being angry with her. Since Kim said harsh things about Olivia, fans are wondering why she thinks she has the right to say that anyone else is evil. Kim also chose to accept Moriah Plath's boyfriend Max Kallschmidt into the family with open arms, as she simultaneously ostracized Olivia.
Kim's Manipulation
Since Welcome to Plathville season 1, Kim has been accused of manipulating her kids. Whenever one of her kids showed interest in learning about life away from their farm, Kim called them rebellious. She even kicked Moriah and Micah Plath out of the home because they wanted to branch out. Ethan has called the Plathville mom a manipulator for multiple seasons, especially when she disregarded Moriah's wishes and caused trouble at her first musical performance. She also kept Ethan away from his younger siblings for months, saying that they could not spend time together without her being present.
Midlife Crisis Kim
Kim seems to be a whole new person on Welcome to Plathville season 4, and her husband Barry says it might be a midlife crisis. After telling her daughters not to wear makeup or show much skin, and asking her kids to do household chores while growing up, she seems to have abandoned all of that this season. She has started wearing more revealing clothes and heavier makeup, stopped coming home as often to watch her younger daughters, and is focusing all her efforts on herself. These actions are the reason why Welcome to Plathville fans call her selfish.
