15 years after Enchanted, Giselle has returned to the screen in the sequel Disenchanted, though the character of Morgan has been recasted. While most of the original cast, including Amy Adams (Giselle) and Patrick Dempsey (Robert), have returned, Rachel Covey is not reprising her role as Morgan, Robert's daughter and Giselle's step-daughter. Instead, Gabriella Baldacchino has taken over as Morgan after the long delay between Enchanted and Disenchanted.

According to IMDb, Covey has only been in one project since Enchanted, an episode of What Would You Do? in 2016. Before Enchanted, she acted in the 2005 film Duane Hopwood. Covey has apparently left acting and, according to her website, is now a playwright and composer. Her only other IMDb credit is as composer of the 2018 short film Feet. A workshop of her play NOISE ran in October 2022 in New York. Whether Disney asked Covey to return or not, it seems she has priorities elsewhere, so they chose Gabriella Baldacchino to be Morgan in the trope-flipping Enchanted sequel.

Baldacchino has appeared in more movies and shows, although she is still a relative newcomer on the scene. She had uncredited appearances in Tower Heist (2011) and Annie (2014). In 2012, she appeared in two episodes of School Spirits. She then appeared in Ask for Jane (2018), Unschooled (2019), and one episode of The Connors in 2021. Disenchanted is her biggest role yet and could launch a successful career for her.

Does Morgan's Story In Disenchanted Work?

In Enchanted, Morgan is important to the story, but more of a cute kid than a real character. In Disenchanted, she has the opportunity to shine, this time as a teenager struggling with the move from New York City to the suburbs. When Giselle wishes for a fairytale life, she turns into the stereotypical evil step-mother from the Disney Animation films that Enchanted and Disenchanted spoof. Through this plot, Disenchanted focuses more on Morgan and her relationship with Giselle than Enchanted. This works well for a sequel, considering the adult characters had time to develop in Enchanted. In many ways, Morgan is the hero of Disenchanted. She even gets her own song, and her singing ability may be part of the reason behind Baldacchino's casting.

Though Covey doesn't return as Morgan, she does make a small cameo appearance, credited as "Monrolasia Girl." Soon after Giselle's wish, she runs into the Queen of Monrolasia (the fairytale version of their new town), who mentions an event. When Giselle questions this, Covey appears as a villager to remind Giselle of the town's festival. Between the Morgan-centric plot and Covey's cameo, Disenchanted honors Covey's portrayal of Morgan in Enchanted.
