Sister Wives star Kody Brown has been gaining a lot of attention from viewers with his comments about his family members. In a confessional in season 17, episode 9, "A Polygamist Divorce," Kody describes how he has grown angry since his divorce from Christine Brown. His growing apprehension and anger simmered during the discussion at Christine's house, only to scream at her in the subsequent episode. Fans are now talking about his comments regarding his relationships with his children in the confessional.

Many viewers took to Reddit to scrutinize Kody's most recent comments. Many took offense to how he threw some of his children under the bus and claimed he didn't have the relationship he wanted because he "wasn't involved" in their lives the way he is involved with Robyn's children. His daughter Gwen mocked him on TikTok recently, proving to some fans that even the kids are frustrated with Kody. It was clear that many believed Kody was wrong to blame his wives for his strained relationships with his children.

Fans were shocked when Kody asked Christine to name which of his children had encouraged her to leave him. This shock grew as Kody began to name specific children he felt no longer "fit in" the family, and then moved on to say Robyn's children were the only ones actively seeking a relationship with him, which explains their closeness. Redditors were quick to point out that this was blatantly untrue, citing that Ysabel asked him to come to her surgery to correct her scoliosis and invited him to help her move to North Carolina. Yet Kody was the one to refuse her offers to participate in her life. Kody has accused Christine of parental alienation with their youngest daughter Truely even though he has repeatedly promised to spend time with her and set up her room at Robyn's house but never followed through. It is clear that his children ask for him to take part in their lives, but he is the one abandoning them if it is inconvenient for him.

Fans Think Kody Is Being Unreasonable

Fans were quick to voice their opinions on Kody, with the majority agreeing that he was unreasonable for expecting his kids to constantly involve him in their lives, and blaming his wives for the strained connections he has with most of his kids. He has shown himself to be defensive about his actions to the point he cut short his conversation with Truely about his divorce, perhaps exaggerating Truely's sad reaction to the news. Redditors pointed out over and over that it is not the child's responsibility to develop and sustain a relationship with the parent, and that they found Kody's behavior off-putting. Redditor artisticflame said: "It’s not the child’s responsibility to initiate contact and beg their dad for affection. It’s the parent’s responsibility to do this. He’s trying to play these mind games on the kids like he does with the wives. He’s really pathetic and manipulative but we all see through it." Others couldn't agree more, adding that his inability to take responsibility for his neglectful nature towards his kids is awful to witness.

Kody doesn't seem to realize that his family is distant from him because of his behavior, and fans have given up on him understanding why his family is how it is. With a couple more episodes to go in the season, there is sure to be more drama for fans to analyze and discuss. While Kody's reaction to his divorce from Christine has been painful to see, Sister Wives fans are hoping to get a glimpse of Christine's independent life in Utah, as well as updates on some kids who haven't been seen as much this season.
