On Selling Sunset season 5, Christine Quinn is commonly considered the villain, but some fans believe that Chrishell Stause is really the biggest troublemaker, and it's time to explain why. While Chrishell's image is more wholesome and conventional than Christine's, who is really an edgy femme fatale, Chrishell had made certain moves that may show a dark side. While she's gained tons of sympathy from fans of the Netflix series in the past, this season, she's definitely got her detractors.

Last season, Chrishell was a fan favorite who was dealing with a grueling (and all too public) divorce from This Is Us star, Justin Hartley. She claimed he blindsided her with his divorce filing, letting her know about it via text when it was already a done deal. She cried onscreen and her pain was so raw that everyone who watched could feel it. During Selling Sunset season 5, Dancing With the Stars alum Chrishell was in a better place. She was calmer, happier, but hiding a secret. In time, that secret was revealed, and the reveal plays a role in why some fans have turned against her. However, her secret, which was her relationship with Jason Oppenheim (that romance is now over) isn't the only thing about her that has raised eyebrows.

The fact that Chrishell was dating her boss didn't earn her any accolades at the Oppenheim Group, which is understandable. A work environment is a competitive place, and agents in the office had already been complaining about the favoritism that Jason's other ex Mary Fitzgerald was shown. In fact, during season 5, Mary was promoted, taking over most of Jason's duties as he was so busy with other things. Now, the agency's glam agents wondered if Chrishell would also get the perks that they feel Selling Sunset's Mary benefits from, including access to plum real estate listings. While most cast members showed overt support for the couple, some expressed issues with the relationship behind the scenes. Christine was more open with her disdain, which is no surprise, as she has a history of feuding with Chrishell.

So, in the eyes of plenty of viewers and some Oppenheim Group agents. the relationship with Jason was one strike against Chrishell. That is perhaps fair enough. Strike two may actually be her feud with Christine. While Chrishell mostly cultivates a sweet and innocent image on the show, and displays a bubbly friendliness that comes off quite well onscreen, she unsheathes her claws when it comes to Christine. So hurt is Chrishell by Selling Sunset's Christine's past actions towards her than she is totally unwilling to accept an olive branch from her enemy.

When it comes to Christine and her apologies, which admittedly may be completely insincere, Chrishell has simply shut down. Also, she actively works against her rival in the office. Some fans, who may love to loathe Christine (or even support her due to her honesty and wit, if not her manipulations), don't approve of Chrishell's lack of forgiveness.

The last reason why some Selling Sunset fans aren't exactly singing Chrishell's praises, which may be strike three, is the fact that these critics believe she just isn't for real. However, she may not really be fake, as Christine definitely provoked Chrishell. Now, Chrishell gets more fan support than agent and entrepreneur Christine, who seemed poised to exit the Oppenheim Group during the season 5 finale. However, the general perception of Chrishell has changed, and she may be to blame for at least some of the reasons why. Can Chrishell find redemption before she unseats Christine as the series' biggest villain? Only time will tell.
