Ethan Plath has once again found himself on the bad side of the Welcome to Plathville fanbase, and this time, it's for being a misogynist. The oldest son of Kim and Barry Plath sparked controversy in the most recent episode of the show, and the drama left fans reeling. While Ethan seems to be struggling with a lot of things, the viewers still think that his misogynistic remarks put him over a line that he never should have crossed.

It is not news that Ethan is having to deal with a lot of things. Quite recently, he traveled back to the farm to attend a memorial for his deceased younger brother, Joshua Plath, on the occasion of his late relative's birthday. It was undeniably an emotional event, which was made even more dramatic by the antics that transpired. Ethan’s poor communication skills are one of many reasons why he has what some would refer to as stunted social intelligence, and he's admitted to that himself. He blames the way that his parents raised him for his struggles to express himself. When he shared the comments about his upbringing and communication skills, he got resounding support from Welcome to Plathville fans.

However, this does not excuse a remark that he made on the show, which some fans picked up on. According to a Redditor who had a short conversation with another fan, they felt it was very inappropriate for him to say that guys who get emotional are acting like women. User/Vness374 commented that he was sexist after listening to his misogynistic remarks on the show, which were spoken to his father. Another person, AlwaysTalk_it_out, agreed, and referenced Ethan's quote from the show: “Like how can guys in touch with their emotions act like ladies?" Vness374 replied with, “Yup. Yikes, right??” The statement definitely did not sit well with the viewers, and they were not going to excuse it.

Another incident that fueled this reaction from Welcome to Plathville viewers was the fact that Ethan knew his mother Kim would be coming to the gravesite while they were there, but didn't bother sharing that tidbit with his wife, Olivia Plath. This was left in the hands of Moriah Plath, who seemed surprised by the knowledge as well, seeing as the memorial was turning into anything but the sibling memorial that she had originally planned. It is no shocker that Olivia has had a traumatic past with Kim, and would have appreciated being told by Ethan that Kim would be attending. Then, she could have braced herself, acted accordingly, and maybe even leaned on her husband for some sort of emotional support.

The Welcome to Plathville fans are still quite sympathetic, due to the problems that Ethan has had to face as a result of his upbringing, but they don't appreciate his misogyny. They understand his struggles with emotional and social cues, which often create troubles in his life. They still hold out hope that he will succeed as he navigates his marriage and other relationships, but see more hurdles ahead.
