Five different reasons could explain why Namor would join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. A recent tease has created the impression that a stint with the Avengers is what Marvel has planned for Namor's future after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness mentioned Namor as the character he's most excited to write.

Loveness' comment makes it a real possibility that Tenoch Huerta's Wakanda Forever character will be on the team roster when Marvel rebuilds the Avengers lineup for Phase 6. Considering that Namor does have a history as an Avenger in the comics, it's not an unprecedented or a necessarily surprising move. But as someone with plans to conquer the surface, Namor isn't exactly in a great position to become an Avenger as things currently stand. That being said, Marvel does have ways of pushing him in that direction. Here are five reasons that would make sense of Namor potentially joining the Avengers in The Kang Dynasty.

5 Joining The Avengers Is Part Of Namor's Masterplan

Fighting alongside the Avengers could be a part of the plan Namor appears to be forming in the aftermath of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. After losing to Shuri, the two agreed to an alliance between Talokan and Wakanda. When Namora expressed her doubts about Namor's decision to surrender, the Sub-Mariner explained that Talokan would grow stronger now that the Black Panther has "empathy" for them. He believes that when the people of the surface inevitably turn on Wakanda, Shuri will look to Talokan for help. If Shuri winds up on the next Avengers team, joining her could be how he moves a step closer toward his goal.

From his perspective, being an Avenger could be a means to an end. If Namor wants to ensure that Shuri sees him as her biggest ally, following her into the Avengers' ranks would be a logical move for his character. Since he expects Shuri's association with the rest of human society to end badly, he may believe that being by her side is his best path toward having Wakanda's help when the time comes for his conquest of the surface to begin.

4 Namor Wants Redemption (& A Different Future For Talokan)

Though admittedly more unlikely than the other possibilities, Namor having an interest in redemption shouldn't be ruled out. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever gave no indication that Namor feels any remorse for killing Queen Ramonda (or anyone else, for that matter), but later developments could instill in him a desire to make up for some of his crimes. If Namor's plan with Shuri falls through and the character realizes that all the blood he's spilled has been for nothing, there's a chance - albeit a slim one - that Namor could look to do things differently in the MCU's future.

By joining the Avengers and representing Talokan, Namor could improve his kingdom's standing in the MCU. The problem, though, is that this sort of outcome would depend on multiple events occurring between Wakanda Forever and The Kang Dynasty. For now, at least, there's no obvious place for Namor to return before the next Avengers film.

Revenge could be what ultimately motivates Namor to join the Avengers in fighting Kang. In the comics, Atlantis is the home of the Serpent Crown, one of the most dangerous artifacts in the Marvel Universe. If the same is true of Talokan, Kang would have something to gain from invading the kingdom. If not, he could have an interest in their vibranium supply instead. Either way, Kang launching an attack on Namor's home could lead to its destruction. If that happens, an angry and desperate Namor could find himself teaming up with the Avengers to seek vengeance on the villain responsible.

2 Namor Loses The Throne Of Talokan

In Marvel Comics, Namor's membership with the Avengers was a result of the character losing the throne of Atlantis. Frustrated by Namor's growing presence on the surface, Atlantean politicians called a vote and came to the agreement that Namor should abdicate the throne. Saddened by this turn of events but willing to abide by their decision, Namor begrudgingly left Atlantis. However, moving on wasn't easy. After all, Atlantis was all he ever had. Seeing how things had changed for Namor, Captain America invited him to join the team. With nothing else to do with his life, Namor accepted Steve's offer and elected to find a new purpose as an Avenger.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's ending may have laid the groundwork for a similar event to transpire in the MCU. Namor tried to make Namora understand that losing to Shuri wasn't a true loss for Talokan, but whether or not his people will accept this reasoning hasn't been revealed. It could be that his defeat will sow unrest and pave the way for characters like Attuma to usurp the throne. Given Attuma's history as a villain with designs on the throne of Atlantis, Namor's allies in Black Panther 2 using his defeat to take away the crown isn't implausible. If he's removed from power, the MCU's Namor could share the comic character's dilemma, thus setting the stage for the character to join the Avengers and put Talokan behind him.

1 Kang's Multiverse Plans Threaten Earth-616

Joining the Avengers may be a reaction to Kang's arrival in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Based on what's known about the character and his variants, it's no secret that Jonathan Majors' villain poses a threat to everyone in the multiverse. Because of that, every hero (and villain) on Earth should have cause to band together, regardless of what differences they may have. Namor's distrust of humans could take a backseat if someone in the MCU - possibly Shuri - manages to convince him of the danger Kang presents to the entire planet.

Finding out that the Council of Kangs intends to destroy the Earth-616 timeline in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could be enough to begin Namor's days as an Avenger in the MCU. In the comic books, protecting Atlantis had a lot to do with why Namor spent so much time with the Defenders, and a similar idea could guide him toward establishing the same relationship with the Avengers in Marvel's movies. After all, Kang won't be the last villain to put the world at risk. Officially joining the Avengers and adding his power to theirs can be how Namor keeps Atlantis safe in Phase 6 and beyond. If so, his time with the team could extend into Avengers: Secret Wars.
