Last week, MTV released a statement announcing they are making a Jersey Shore reboot, titled Jersey Shore 2.0, 10 years after the original series aired. Despite many fans being confused as to why the network is going to be creating a reboot, some were excited to see what the new show could bring. However, not everyone was happy, especially the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation cast. Find out why MTV is calling the OG Jersey Shore cast members "ungrateful" after announcing the reboot.

When MTV first announced the reboot, the original cast members had a lot to say. They made a joint statement that was posted to each of their social media accounts, saying how unhappy they all are about the reboot. It was first posted by Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and then shared by the other Jersey Shore cast members. The statement read, "As a cast that took a chance with a network in need, we put our most vulnerable moments on television for the world to see. We gave our all over the past 13 years, became a family and continue to open our lives for the world. So please understand that we are not in support of a version that will exploit our original show, our hard work and authenticity to gain viewers."

According to The Ashley's Reality RoundUp, after the cast released their joint statement across social media, MTV was not pleased with them at all. The network found it appalling that the original cast members would take a swipe at the network, especially after everything they had done for the cast for the past decade. The network also disputed claims that MTV was failing before Jersey Shore came along. While Jersey Shore did bring a lot of viewers to MTV, it wasn't the show that made the network popular again.

Another MTV alum, Spencer Pratt, from The Hills and The Hills: New Beginnings, also chimed in and stated that the original cast members from Jersey Shore were biting the hand that fed them by slamming MTV publicly. According to the former The Hills cast member, Jersey Shore did not come to the network in a time of need, but when The Hills was the network's number one show. Despite many people not being a fan of Spencer's, a lot did agree with him and what he had to say.

With the OG's calling out the network, who knows how long Jersey Shore: Family Vacation will remain on the air. Right now, they are in the process of filming the new season. However, with this rant against the network, anything is bound to happen. For now, viewers don't have anything to worry about as they will be getting a new season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation later this year. Until then, viewers can catch all the seasons of the original series and the reboot streaming on Paramount+.
