On Sunday, September 25, Monte Taylor came just shy of becoming the latest winner of Big Brother; did he deserve to win? Monte sat next to Taylor Hale in the final two on finale night. Although he only received one jury vote, some fans feel Monte was the one who deserved to win the season; however, on the other hand, there are some reasons why Taylor deserved to win instead.

Walking into the house at the start of the season, Monte was seen as a large physical threat. He shocked many of his fellow Big Brother houseguests when he did not win many competitions off the bat. Instead, Monte remained low-key while helping to form the dominating Big Brother seven-person Leftovers alliance. Then, as the game began to heat up, Monte started winning more and more competitions.

There is no doubt that Monte was a strong competitor with his Big Brother game resume. He had five total competition wins, which were three more than the Big Brother season 24 winner, Taylor. Monte won three Head of Household reigns as well as two Power of Veto competitions. He was also the mastermind in getting competition beast Michael Bruner out of the house during the second double eviction of the season. In addition to this, Monte also won the most important Head of Household competition of the summer, ensuring his spot in the final two. While it may have seemed obvious that a strong resume like Monte's would result in a season win, many were shocked to see him only receive one jury vote on finale night. Even Monte himself was shocked Taylor beat him.

Monte Lost Big Brother 24 To Taylor By An 8 To 1 Vote

Big brother 24's Monte Taylor and Turner

Although Monte had a strong resume, there has to be a reason he didn't take home the 750k grand prize. While there is no doubt he had powerful gameplay, Monte lacked in the social game department. Monte was a part of the Leftovers alliance early on in the game. Since he was loyal to this dominating group, Monte rarely ventured to make allies outside the alliance. When it came time to choose who he wanted to sit next to in the final two, Monte had a choice between his final two partners from early on in the game, Matthew "Turner" Turner, or his newfound Big Brother showmance partner, Taylor. In thinking Taylor would not get many jury votes due to her lack of competition wins, Monte chose to bring Taylor to the final two. This decision ultimately cost him the $750k grand prize.

It is an easy argument to say that Monte deserved to win this season of Big Brother over Taylor; however, the same argument can easily be made in Taylor's defense as well. Had Monte chosen to bring Turner to the final two, things may have ended differently for him. Although Monte did not win Big Brother 24, he still got to walk away with $75k.
