In the first America's Vote of the season, Big Brother 24 fans can vote to save either Paloma Aguilar, Alyssa Snider, or Brittany Hoopes from eviction, but they should wait until later in the week in order to make a more informed decision. At the "BB Fest," the houseguests played three games and the winners then competed in the Head of Household (HOH) competition. Daniel Durston became the first HOH of the season, but Joe "Pooch" Pucciarelli earned the title of Backstage Boss. This means that he will be unable to compete in any competitions for the week or cast a vote on eviction night. However, he also has the privilege of being safe from being nominated or evicted this week.

Pooch also had to name three Big Brother 24 contestants to join him "backstage." Because the houseguests just met and he didn't even know their names, he thought it would be most fair if he based his decision on who was the first person eliminated in each of the games that led to the HOH competition. Paloma and Alyssa were the first out of their games, and, although Brittany's game did not have a first elimination, Pooch chose her because he said that she stood out. These three contestants also will not compete, be nominated this week, or vote on eviction night. However, unlike Pooch, one of them could be in danger of going home during Thursday's live eviction. Luckily, America has the power to keep one of them safe through America's Vote.

Although some Big Brother fans might be excited to vote for Paloma, Alyssa, or Brittany right away based on their first impressions, they should wait because the voting does not close until July 14. They have the whole week to watch the women on the live feeds and/or the Sunday and Wednesday night episodes in order to get to know them better. Although fans got a glimpse of their personalities and gameplay on premiere night, it was not enough to decide who should be safe from eviction. Fans who do their research can read or watch interviews with the women in order to get to know them better, but those do not show the contestants in action in the game.

Big Brother 24 Backstage Pass

Rather than vote for the contestants based on their looks or their personalities, Big Brother fans should save their votes for later in the week when they have more information. Votes are limited to 10 per email address, so voting early could be a mistake if there are new developments as the week progresses. As alliances begin to form, Daniel nominates two houseguests for eviction, and the veto is played, viewers might change their minds about who is the best contestant for whom to vote. The houseguests who are eligible for the vote could make deals that would prevent them from being voted out anyway, and voting early could prevent fans from saving someone if new threats develop.

The Big Brother Backstage Boss twist is fun because it involved America on night one, but fans should wait to vote until they have more information. Paloma, Alyssa, and Brittany deserve to have fans take the America's Vote seriously because it could affect their fates in the game. America should not take this responsibility lightly, and should make the most of America's Vote.
