Polarizing 90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem was spotted in the crowd at Biniyam Shibre’s MMA match. Biniyam and his partner Ariela Weinberg were introduced on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 2 in 2020. A pregnant Ariela moved to Ethiopia to stay with a man she’d spent three months with. Ariela and Biniyam butted heads over religion, parenting, money, and exes. After almost breaking up in season 3, Ariela applied for Biniyam’s K-1 visa, which is why he’s now in the U.S.
While being nagged by Ariela’s family about how he will make money in the country, Biniyam revealed that becoming a UFC fighter is his biggest dream. In Ethiopia, Biniyam worked as a dancer, gymnast, martial artist, and choreographer. Before Ariela, Biniyam was married to a woman called Bria. Biniyam had been to the U.S. before, and his first MMA fight was for Revolution Combat Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Biniyam, known as "Babycool," won by TKO (technical knockout) in the featherweight category. Apart from that, he'd fought as a kickboxer in Ethiopia three times. While Ariela was worried about Biniyam getting hurt during his match, Biniyam wasn’t worried due to his professional background.
It may have also helped that Biniyam had his friend Angela cheering him on from the front row. Since Angela’s name didn’t flash on the screen like it usually does, many fans were left scratching their heads, wondering if it was really her. It actually was Angela in her bright red outfit and signature high ponytail look. Those who follow Angela, Biniyam, and Ariela on Instagram knew that this scene was actually filmed on August 13. 2021. Biniyam was first spotted by a fan in New York in July, outside of a restaurant in downtown Manhattan. Biniyam's move to the U.S. was confirmed when he started promoting his Flex Fight Series “Battle Flex Vol. 3” match on his Instagram. The page also shared several photos of Angela from Biniyam's event, and thanked her for coming to support Biniyam. “You had the best energy in the room,” the comment said.
“She wasn't there to support him. She was there to support herself,” reads a 90 Day Fiancé fan’s comment about Angela from 43 weeks ago. “She wants to stay in the spot ln the spotlight,” they added. Some fans claimed that Angela was wearing the same outfit she wore to the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6 Tell-All, during which she infamously flashed her breasts. However, to Angela’s credit, it’s a different outfit, since the latter outfit was more of a coordinated set. After the 90 Day Fiancé season 9 episode aired on Sunday, Instagram blogger @90dayfiancénow shared a throwback video of Angela at the match. Fans wrote comments such as, “second-hand embarrassment” and “One word: THIRSTY” on it. Fans think that Angela’s “role on 90 day is over,” so she’s trying to make herself relevant, just to stay on TV.
However, Biniyam and Angela seem to be good friends. They've made TikTok duets together, and also done Instagram LIVE sessions, during which Angela was seen giving Biniyam advice on how to deal with critics. It’s plausible that TLC would have had to pay Angela money if she was mentioned as a cast member during the 90 Day Fiancé episode. However, based on the way that the cameras avoided Angela, she may have been there just to watch Biniyam win. Angela’s advice to Biniyam was, “negative people, let them be negative, who cares?” It looks like Angela needs to follow that advice herself, with all the criticism she’s facing after the MMA fight scene aired.
