Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: Andor episodes 1-3

The actor who voices the droid B2EMO in Andor is someone with a lot of experience with iconic Star Wars characters. The Disney+ prequel series features Diego Luna's Cassian Andor, last seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as he's recruited into the galaxy's Rebel Alliance. Introduced in the show's first episode, B2EMO is a charming red and yellow groundmech salvage unit that has long served the Andor family — and also keeps Cassian's secrets.

In the first three episodes of Andor, Cassian searches for his sister, whom he lost when he was taken from his homeworld of Kenari. After an unfortunate brawl results in the death of two Corporate Sector Authority agents, Andor needs a way to make it off-planet and eventually crosses paths with Stellan Skarsgård's character, Luthen Rael, who offers him a chance to "fight the Empire for real." During Cassian's time on the world of Ferrix, his adoptive mother's droid, B2EMO, makes a handful of appearances, helping to keep Cassian's secrets so she won't worry, at least until a bulletin is put out on Andor throughout the Corporate Zone.

In the Andor series, B2EMO is voiced by Dave Chapman, an accomplished puppeteer who has worked on multiple Star Wars movies in the past, including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and every episode of the sequel trilogy. However, there is one major droid whose voice Dave Chapman helped create before B2EMO.

Andor and B2EMO on Ferrix

Dave Chapman has puppeteered several droids and creatures in the Star Wars galaxy, such as Yoda in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Lady Proxima in Solo: A Star Wars Story. He also helped create the voice of BB-8 with Brian Herring and comedy stars Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz. This time, Chapman has gone solo as the human voice behind the boxy B2EMO droid, who does his best to help the Andor family despite his constant need to charge.

Outside of Star Wars, Chapman began his career as a puppeteer on the movie Muppet Treasure Island and has since gone on to puppeteer and voice several characters, such as The Emperor, in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. He also helped bring a number of the dinosaurs to life in Jurassic World Dominion. Currently, Chapman can be seen as one of the masked dwarf guards in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

While Dave Chapman helped create the emotion-filled beeps of the lovable BB-8, it's fun to see him as B2EMO with actual speaking dialogue. Unfortunately, it's not yet known if B2EMO will be left behind on Ferrix now that Cassian is making his escape with Luthen, as seen at the end of Andor episode 3. Here's hoping the new droid companion will be featured in the nine episodes of Andor that are still to come in season 1.

New episodes of Andor release on Wednesdays on Disney+.
