Here's who speaks to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) during the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Super Bowl trailer. Following on from the multiverse opening up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, things are spiralling into, well, madness in Doctor Strange 2. This may be the exact kind of issue Strange worked so hard to prevent, but unfortunately things are spinning out of control and gateways to different universes have been opened up, letting the MCU fully unleash the multiverse in ways beyond even No Way Home's multiple Spider-Men.

That's what's on show in the Doctor Strange 2 Super Bowl trailer. Marvel had a TV spot air just prior to the Big Game kicking off, which was swiftly followed with a new full-length Doctor Strange 2 trailer. Both versions lean heavily on the concept of the multiverse itself and Strange's actions causing havoc upon the world, and both notably have a returning Marvel character speak to Doctor Strange that should get audiences very excited.

The voice speaking to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer is Patrick Stewart, who is seemingly back as Charlies Xavier, aka Professor X, from Fox's X-Men movies. There have been rumors of cameos from Fox's X-Men characters in Doctor Strange 2, and now it appears they are genuine, or at least Stewart is. No other X-Men characters are confirmed, but if Stewart is appearing as Professor X, then it would make sense for others to do so.

Doctor Strange 2 Patrick Stewart Xavier Illuminati

Of course, Stewart's voice being in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Super Bowl trailer only raises more questions. While it's safe to assume this is a Professor X, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the exact same one from the Fox universe. Marvel already pulled the rug from under viewers with this thanks to Evan Peters' appearance in WandaVision, ostensibly as Fox X-Men's Quicksilver but later revealed to be a fake, a nobody called Ralph Bohner. That was divisive though, and it's hard to imagine them doing something quite so controversial with Stewart, but it nonetheless is possible that this is a variant from another universe besides Fox's. If it is that version, though, which is the most exciting option given that character's history, then it officially brings the X-Men into the MCU.

In the Doctor Strange 2 Super Bowl trailer, Stewart's Professor X says: "We should tell him the truth." It isn't clear exactly what that means, but it presumably refers to not only whatever is happening to the multiverse, but his role in it. Professor X is part of an organization Strange is taken to by Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), which looks like it could be the MCU's version of Marvel's Illuminati, a secret group of some of Earth's most intelligent and powerful heroes. Given Charles Xavier's presence (which is from the comics), then this could be a kind of multiversal form of the Illuminati. Whatever happens, Stewart returning only makes the next MCU Phase 4 movie even more exciting, and opens the door for many more Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameos as well.
