A week after Who Killed Sara? was released on Netflix, the streaming platform announced that the show has already been renewed, and Who Killed Sara? season 2 is coming soon. After its initial release, the Netflix crime drama became an instant hit with viewers, immediately jumping to the #1 spot on the streaming platform’s top-ten list.

Who Killed Sara? centers on brother and sister, Alex and Sara Guzman, and their tumultuous relationship with the Lazcano family. The show switches back and forth between two timelines, following Alex as he enacts his revenge on the Lazcanos in the present day and 18 years earlier, as the show documents what happened on the day of Sara’s accident and the weeks immediately following and leading up to her death.

By the end of Who Killed Sara? season 1, almost everyone has been accused or suspected of being Sara’s killer. While some audience members may be convinced that Mariana Lazcano is ultimately the one responsible for Sara’s death, if indirectly, with so many twists and turns from the show thus far, Who Killed Sara? season 2 will most likely point the finger in another direction. Here's what can fans expect from Who Killed Sara? season 2?

Who Killed Sara? Season 2 Release

Netflix has announced that Who Killed Sara? season 2 will be released on May 19. 2021. This is exciting for fans of the series who are used to waiting an entire year or more to see the next season of their favorite Netflix TV shows.

Who Killed Sara? Season 2 Story

When Alex discovers Sara’s journal in the season finale, the journal reveals Sara’s mental health struggles and raises more questions for Who Killed Sara? season 2 to answer. But the biggest question remains the same - what happened to Sara? A few key factors in the first season point to the fact that Sara may not be dead after all. In the series premiere, a doctor pronounces the time of death for a woman presumed to be Sara before giving the news to Alex. But we never see Sara’s body.

One of the most disturbing plot elements of Who Killed Sara?, is that César Lazcano’s illegal activities include human trafficking. César and his equally slimy partner, Sergio are basically professional kidnappers of young women. Knowing that César has made women disappear before - and the fact that Sara was pregnant with César’s child - is pretty strong evidence that he may hold the key to what really happened to her. And this is the biggest unanswered question season 2 will have to answer.

Who Killed Sara? Season 2 Cast And Characters

Who Killed Sara? season 2 will include characters not killed off in the first season. Ximena Lamadrid will return as Sara Guzman and Manolo Cardona as Sara’s avenging brother, Alex. The entire Lazcano family will also be returning. Claudia Ramírez and Ginés García Millán will reprise their respective roles as the matriarch, Mariana and patriarch, César Lazcano, along with the Lazcano children, Elisa (played by Carolina Miranda), José María “Chema” (Eugenio Siller), and Rodolfo Lazcano (Alejandro Nones).

A few new faces have also been added to Who Killed Sara? season 2, with actors Daniel Giménez Cacho, Matías Novoa, and Antonio de la Vega joining the Netflix series. While there isn’t a whole lot known about these new characters yet, it looks like Cacho will be playing a psychiatrist who may have treated Sara before her death. Whatever happens, after leaving audiences with more questions than answers, Who Killed Sara? season 2 is sure to be one of Netflix’s most anticipated shows of the summer.
