In the Mad Max universe, Dementus is a warlord who leads the Biker Horde, a group of bikers known to threaten and steal to survive. Mad Max: Furiosa will feature Furiosa before she becomes Imperator Furiosa and showcase her time in the Green Place before she is forced to exist in the Wasteland. In the Wasteland, she encounters Dementus, a known villain and enemy of a fellow tyrant, Immortan Joe. The story will focus on Furiosa's earliest journeys, but it will also serve as a glimpse into the younger life of Immortan Joe, who was famously played by Hugh Keays-Byrne in Mad Max and Mad Max: Fury Road before his death in 2020.
The assumption that Chris Hemsworth will be portraying Dementus in Mad Max: Furiosa comes down to the fact that there are only two options for a main character outside of Furiosa herself. Hemsworth could surprise many by playing the younger version of Immortan Joe. Still, since that character is infamously covered with a face mask in his later years, it's difficult to picture Chris Hemsworth taking on such a role. Hemsworth is obviously known for sexier and heroic parts, like in Thor: Love and Thunder, where his nudity is flaunted for all of the gods. Dementus seems like a better fit for Hemsworth as it would give the actor a chance to play against type as a kidnapper and warlord while providing Furiosa a chance to survive in the presence of two tyrants battling one another.
