There are numerous upcoming projects in the MCU that could feature the return of WandaVision’s White Vision (Paul Bettany). Only one of Marvel’s unreleased movies and shows is confirmed to include Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), but they don’t necessarily have to appear together, especially since this is a new version of the Android Avenger.

Avengers: Infinity War killed off the original Vision by having his life source, the Mind Stone, ripped from his head. Though he was one character who couldn’t be brought back by Hulk’s snap in Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision gave fans hope that he’d be revived for good. There was a belief held by some that Scarlet Witch’s reality-warping abilities would make a long-term return possible for him, but it was not to be. Instead, it was revealed that the show’s Vision was a manifestation of her Chaos Magic and the fragment of the Mind Stone that was still within her. In the season finale, he said his goodbyes to Wanda and disappeared with the Hex.

That may be the last audiences will see of him, but now there’s a new Vision in the MCU. Rebuilt from the body of the original (but without the Mind Stone), White Vision is based on the colorless version of the character from the pages of West Coast Avengers in the 1980s. Similar to the hero in the comic, White Vision still has all his powers, but he doesn’t have his old personality because the most important component in his design is missing. As for what he’ll do now, that remains to be seen, as it’s not clear what Marvel’s plans for him are. Unless they’re saving him for a potential second season of WandaVision, there’s a good chance that he’ll have a presence in some of the Phase 4 movies and Disney+ shows.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

White Vision could get an unexpected cameo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Given the subject matter, it could be that the second show on Marvel’s Disney+ lineup will at some point address the future of the Avengers. In fact, that could be what the series is leading toward. If Falcon (Anthony Mackie) wants to become the new Captain America, he may also take it upon himself to rebuild the Avengers, whose roster was depleted by the events of Endgame. White Vision would be a potential new recruit for the team. Without anywhere else to go, he could accept an offer to join a new squad of Avengers.

Doctor Strange 2

Scarlet Witch in WandaVision and Doctor Strange

Wanda Maximoff is coming back for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but what about White Vision? As things stand, there’s no word yet on if he’ll be in the movie. It is at least possible, considering that Westview’s Vision restored his memories. He may not have an emotional connection to Wanda, but he could still be curious about her role in his life. If he seeks her out, he could get caught up in whatever battle Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange get themselves in, whether it be a fight with Mephisto, Nightmare, Chthon, or someone else entirely. With his powers, he’d certainly be a formidable ally. The problem with this scenario is that Scarlet Witch’s MCU story doesn’t need White Vision. This was reflected by comments from WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer, who reaffirmed that he isn’t the Vision that Scarlet Witch knows.

Armor Wars

Another place White Vision could pop up is Armor Wars, a show based on a story that saw Iron Man go on the attack against people who stole his armor designs. Presumably, War Machine (Don Cheadle) will be filling that role in Phase 4. Based on what happened in the source material, it seems likely that what the plot will entail is War Machine targeting characters who may have stolen Stark’s tech. Tracking down powerful, tech-based villains could lead to an incidental meeting with White Vision. Or Vision's link to Iron Man's legacy could be the reason for why he could cross paths with Rhodes. Iron Man didn’t build Vision, but his A.I., J.A.R.V.I.S., did play a part in his creation. If White Vision is on a path to self-discovery, he may try to visit people and places from his memories in order to find his own identity and determine what his new purpose should be in the world.

Secret Invasion

Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury and Secret Invasion

The people responsible for bringing White Vision online could end up needing his help in Secret Invasion, a show that will focus on Nick Fury’s efforts to prevent a takeover of Earth perpetrated by the shape-shifting Skrulls. Samuel L. Jackson’s character will be aided by Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and possibly Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), who may have been recruited for the fight in the first post-credits scene in the WandaVision season finale. Another WandaVision superhero who would be an asset to the cause is White Vision. Since not much goes unnoticed by the former SHIELD director, it would be surprising if White Vision isn’t on Fury’s radar. If he can find a way to make contact with him, he might make use of the synethezoid and his abilities in the battle against the Skrulls.

Avengers 5

Though not officially confirmed to be in development, Avengers 5 is a movie that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has said will happen eventually. With the way Endgame left things, the status of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is currently in flux, which leaves room for a new team of MCU characters to be assembled. Some could be founding members like Thor (Chris Hemsworth), rising stars like Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), or new versions of existing characters, such as White Vision. As previously noted, White Vision feels like a logical choice when it comes to picking the next Avengers lineup. It’s worth pointing out that in the comic books, working with the Avengers is exactly what White Vision did when Hank Pym reactivated him in the 1980s. Though it’s true that he didn’t have emotional ties to anyone on the team, he did have a sense of responsibility, due in large part to his programming and memories of his old life. It’s for the same reasons that the MCU’s White Vision could be open to being a member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He may feel that it’s with the Avengers that he truly belongs.

Plus, it’s important to keep in mind that White Vision’s chances of being in Avengers 5 (or any Marvel project for that matter) aren’t dependent on what Marvel intends for Scarlet Witch. In the early 1990s, Marvel distanced White Vision from Wanda by putting him on Black Knight’s Avengers team, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Phase 4 goes in the same direction by putting him in Avengers 5 and giving him totally different teammates to interact with. The Vision that was a part of her life is gone, so there’s no need for her story and White Vision to be intertwined. He’s a new character with a new destiny in the MCU.
