Being an X-Men member in Marvel Comics means more than just being a superhero on a team. These heroes are only mutants, making them some of the most feared and despised heroes in the world. With the creation of the mutant island of Krakoa in the comics, the team also no longer consists of mutant heroes battling mutant villains, since there are few genuine villains in Krakoa.

What this means is that anyone and everyone could and likely have been a member of the X-Men. These mutants come in all shapes and sizes, with some very heroic, others violent and dangerous, and others just boastful and arrogant characters. This means there is an X-Men member for every Chinese zodiac sign.

Rat - Gambit

Gambit fighting Deadpool in Marvel Comics

Gambit got his start as a thief, working as part of the Thieves' Guild where he was as untrustworthy as a character could be. However, despite this, he was able to always convince people to give him a chance, follow him, and look the other way when he was robbing them blind.

As an X-Men member, he was a trusted ally until his role in the Mutant Massacre that killed hundreds of Morlocks was discovered. Despite this, he was able to get back in their good graces thanks to his charm, brains, and persuasive personality, all traits of the Rat.

Ox - Colossus

Kitty saves Colossus after his death.

When looking at Colossus, it is clear that he has the size and form of someone who might be considered an ox, but he also has the personality traits of the Chinese zodiac sign Ox. An Ox is patient, kind, stubborn, and conservative, which accurately describes the big Russian mutant.

Colossus is as patient and kind as any member of the X-Men and he is someone who would normally rather paint and relax than fight a battle. However, he is also extremely stubborn, almost to a fault, and this is especially problematic when he is in the wrong thanks to his more conservative nature.

Tiger - Cyclops

Cyclops leading the X-Men.

If there is any X-Men member considered the perfect leader, it is Cyclops. When the team first formed, it was Cyclops who was the designated field leader and he was the man Professor X looked to when it came to following his ideals and vision.

The Chinese zodiac sign Tiger is one that fits leaders perfectly, as the traits it signifies are an authoritative nature mixed with an intense and courageous personality. As the man who leads the X-Men into battle more often than not, Scott is a perfect Tiger.

Rabbit - Kitty Pryde

Kate Pryde Gets Revenge on Sebastian Shaw

When Kitty Pryde joined the X-Men, she was the youngest student in the history of Marvel Comics and the youngest member of the team. This made her immature and easily influenced, and it also helped bring a bit of fun to the mostly dour team of mutants. However, as she got older, she became a strong leader herself.

For the Chinese zodiac signs, Kate Pryde fits the sign of the Rabbit. This signifies someone who is compassionate and sincere, which she is until someone crosses her. Kate leads the Marauders, a group of mutants who protect people in Madripoor who can't protect themselves.

Dragon - Professor X

Professor X In The Comics

Professor Charles Xavier is the man who created the X-Men as a way to help facilitate the mutants' ability to live in peace with humans. As the antithesis to Magneto, who didn't think it was possible, his dream was to use his X-Men to save humans and eventually find a utopia. Professor X has since learned it was never possible as he helped create Krakoa.

The Dragon has many traits that Professor X possessed, traits that made him the leader that was able to also coexist with other heroes and even humans behind the scenes. These traits included being charismatic and, at least, outwardly warm-hearted. He is also a fearless leader who remains tireless in his goals.

Snake - Emma Frost

Emma Frost with an angry expression.

Emma Frost started out as a major X-Men villain. She was a member of the Hellfire Club and then started her own rival school, where she trained the Hellions to be the more dangerous and antagonistic version of the New Mutants. It is when her team died that she saw the error of her ways and joined the X-Men.

However, she proved more than once not to be trustworthy and even started a war with the Inhumans. She is, at heart, a snake. The Chinese zodiac sign for Snake describes someone who is charming, gregarious, and smart, all traits that made Emma a force to be reckoned with.

Horse - Beast

Beast leaps into the fray in the pages of Marvel Comics X-Men comics.

No mutant has changed as much as Beast throughout the years. When he first appeared, he was the happy-go-lucky jokester who was always there to throw out one-liners. Even as he was self-hating, he kept his sense of humor with the Avengers and X-Men. However, he is now one of the darkest of the X-Men, someone who has almost no morals.

He shares the trait with the Chinese zodiac symbol Horse. Beast is an independent and impatient man, someone who will do almost anything to achieve his goals, even if it means rushing to his goal without concern of hurting others.

Goat/Sheep - Ice-Man

Ice Man in his jagged ice form.

Ice-Man is another original X-Men member, and he was always the youngest until Kitty Pryde showed up years later. He was, as a result, one of the most immature and innocent of the original team. Over the years, Ice-Man has also done a lot of growing and has become cold, losing much of his wide-eyed innocence.

Even with the dark turn at times, he still shares the trait of the Sheep. He is often shy and kind, although he will become increasingly violent when someone hurts a person he cares about.

Monkey - Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler X-Men Dark Ages

Nightcrawler has gone through many interactions over the years in X-Men comics. He started out as a demonic-looking mutant, one that possessed more self-hatred than any other thanks to his Catholic upbringing. He then became a fun-loving swashbuckler before now taking the role of a prophet in Krakoa.

For the Chinese zodiac signs, Nightcrawler is Monkey. He is, at times, fun and energetic, as shown in his days as the swashbuckler with the sword. Even in his self-loathing and prophetic days, he is still someone who pops in and out, always there as one of the highest-energy mutants in the X-Men.

Rooster - Storm

Storm in X-Men Red #1

Next to Cyclops, the X-Men's greatest leader in history is Storm. She took his place as the leader of the All-New X-Men and beat him in a battle to take that spot. She also took over the leadership fo the Morlocks, beating Calisto in the same manner.

Storm's biggest trait is that she believes in herself and takes grief from no one. This lines her up with the Rooster, who is an independent and practical hard-working individual. However, she is also very observant, making her a better team leader than even Cyclops, who was often narrow-minded.

Dog - Wolverine

Angry Wolverine with his claws out

The most popular member of the X-Men has been Wolverine since he first joined them. This is likely because he was always antagonistic, never took orders well, and often did things that no other hero would do to end a threat. Wolverine is also one of the most self-confident mutants in Marvel Comics.

Based on the traits of Chinese zodiac symbols, Wolverine fits in best with Dog. This is a patient and diligent person, and Wolverine is not someone who will rush into battle without knowing what he is getting into. This is also the trait of faithful and kind people, and while Wolverine is violent, he does this to protect those he loves.

Pig - Jean Grey

X-Men Jean Grey

Jean Grey is an original X-Men member, the first woman on the team in the comics, and considered one of the greatest female heroes in Marvel Comics history. She is extremely powerful, especially with the combo of her Phoenix Force and her unequaled mental telepathy powers. She is also kind and considerate, someone who had a school named after her following one of her deaths.

Jean fits the Chinese zodiac symbol of Pig. This is a loving and tolerant person, and Jean has proven to be the one X-Men member that others will go to when they need help. She is also one of the most honest X-Men members based on her own past relationship with deceivers, another Pig trait.
