The 1960s Batman television series was the Dark Knight's first-ever live-action outing, and it remains one of the most beloved and iconic to this day. The memorable depictions of the Dynamic Duo, their allies, and their colorful enemies, have paved the way for future screen versions of the characters to come, including the new 2022 live-action movie, The Batman.

Each storyline saw the Dynamic Duo come face to face with a unique and notorious villain who inevitably hatched an outlandish scheme with a set yet varied goal at the end. This leaves a rich number of zodiac qualities from each star sign to easily align with the characters in the show.

Aries - The Riddler

Frank Gorshin as The Riddler

The Riddler was the first villain Batman and Robin faced in the 1960s show. Portrayed most notably by Frank Gorshin, the Riddler made his onscreen debut with a bang, setting a high bar for all future antagonists.

People born under the Aries signs are renown for being energetic and although taking pride in his more logical riddles, Gorshin's Riddler is full of boundless energy. What's more, the Riddler demonstrates the Aries trait of being an assertive leader, which Batman villains must be when dealing with their henchmen.

Taurus - Chief O'Hara

Chief O'Hara in the 1960s Batman television series

Chief O'Hara is Commissioner Gordon's somewhat buffoonish but well-meaning right-hand man and the chief of Gotham's police. He is always on hand when Batman and Robin are summoned to the Commissioner's office and has faith in the Dynamic Duo to help keep crime off the streets.

While not the smartest character in the show, there's no questioning that Chief O'Hara is a very hard and honest worker, as well as one of the Dynamic Duo's most persevering and dependable allies. These are qualities all associated with Taurus, making the Chief a great fit for the star sign.

Gemini - Batgirl/Barbara Gordon

Yvonne Craig as Batgirl in the 1960s Batman television series

Batgirl didn't arrive on the scene until season 3 but she quickly found her place fighting alongside the Dynamic Duo and made a great impact on the show. In fact, Yvonne Craig's Batgirl still remains the most iconic live-action version of the character to this date.

A librarian moonlighting as a masked crimefighter, Batgirl has proven herself to be the most intelligent member of the Bat-family. What's more, she must adapt herself to any situation that arises. These all reflect the responsive and flexible qualities associated with Gemini.

Cancer - Harriet Cooper

Harriet Cooper in Batman 1966

Harriet Cooper, more commonly known as Aunt Harriet, is Dick Grayson's motherly aunt in the series. Residing at Wayne Manor, Harriet always makes sure Bruce and Dick are well looked after. Yet unlike Alfred, she has no idea of their crimefighting personas.

Cancerians are well known to be nurturing and kind, and Aunt Harriet is always there to make sure her nephew and Bruce are well fed and rested. She is also shown to be a rather sentimental woman, another characteristic linked with those born under the Cancer sign.

Leo - The Joker

Cesar Romero as the Joker in the 60s Batman series

Batman's most notorious villain of them all is the Joker, and Cesar Romero's version certainly packs a punch in the 1960s series. Even with the many portrayals of the Clown Prince of Crime, Romero's still stands the test of time today.

What makes this Joker a great fit for the Leo sign is his showmanship and charisma. He is bold and has a flair for the dramatic in his crimes, exuding self-confidence in all of his madcap schemes. Although not the most threatening portrayal, there's no denying that this Joker is a lot of fun to watch.

Virgo - Egghead

Egghead

A new villain created for the 1960s series was Egghead. Depicted by the legendary horror actor Vincent Price, the smug Egghead prided himself on being a brilliant detective, so much so that he came the closest to unmasking Batman.

While not exactly subtle, Egghead is more reserved than other Batman villains, a trait associated with Virgos. But what really makes him a Virgo is his intelligence, practicality, and analytical skills as a detective. With his mastermind intellect, Egghead could be a great Batman villain for a modern DC adaption in the future.

Libra - Batman / Bruce Wayne

Adam West as Batman 1960s

Even to this day, Adam West's depiction of the philanthropist billionaire crimefighter is one of the most beloved and memorable. While definitely not the darkest version of the character, West's Batman is so lovably hammy that it's hard not to enjoy his performance.

Batman has a very strong sense of right and wrong, yet is just and empathetic to those he believes were led astray, most notably the molls of the villain. This is no different from when he is Bruce Wayne, where he is a likable and selfless person who donates to charity frequently. All these qualities make West's Batman the perfect Libra.

Scorpio - Catwoman

Lee Meriwether, Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt as Catwoman - 60s Batman

Catwoman was depicted by three different actresses across the series: Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and Eartha Kitt. All of these women perfectly captured the notorious cat burglar in their own way and were some of the best live-action Catwomen.

True to the Scorpio sign, and most versions of the character, Catwoman is resourceful and fearless, particularly when jewels or priceless artifacts are involved. Additionally, like Scorpios, Catwoman is noted for her stubbornness — which almost cost her her life in one episode.

Sagittarius - Robin/Dick Grayson

Burt Ward plays Robin in the Batman TV show

Not far from Batman's side is the young and fresh-faced Robin, who also happens to be Bruce Wayne's ward, Dick Grayson. Burt Ward's portrayal of the Boy Wonder in this television series arguably remains the most iconic today.

Robin's youthful enthusiasm and optimism about whatever he puts his heart to, be it crime-fighting or his education, perfectly aligns him with the Sagittarius sign. Additionally, what makes him fitting for Sagittarius is his youth and inexperience which makes him more impatient and raring to go than the more patient Batman.

Capricorn - Commissioner Gordon

Neil Hamilton as Commissioner Jim Gordon calling Batman via the red Bat-phone in the 1966 series

Commissioner Gordon remains a loyal ally to the Dynamic Duo through thick and thin. Whenever a Batman villain is on the loose, no matter how goofy, Gordon will ring for Batman and Robin with a special red phone.

In charge of the Gotham City Police Department, Commissioner Gordon is a focused individual, keen to keep the city's streets clean of crime. What's more, he is one of the more serious and disciplined characters in the show, perhaps more so than Batman. It is these characteristics that make Commissioner Gordon a Capricorn.

Aquarius - The Penguin

Penguin with his umbrella in Batman

The most frequently appearing villain in the series is one of Batman's most classic foes, the Penguin. With his purple top hat, ever-present cigarette holder, monocle, and birdlike laugh, Burgess Meredith's Penguin is an icon in his own right.

He may be one of Batman's more cerebral foes but the Penguin is still rather eccentric, much like an Aquarian. People born under the Aquarius sign are also known to be assertive, charming, and humanitarian. Ironically, out of all of Batman's villains, the Penguin is the one who frequently claims to have reformed and frequently charms Gotham's public into believing he's a changed man.

Pisces - Alfred

Alfred Pennyworth answering the red Batman telephone in Batman '66

Alfred has been an invaluable member of the Bat-family for generations, and Alan Napier's depiction of the Waynes' loyal butler is no exception. He is always ready to help out in both Bruce's everyday activities and Batman's crime-fighting plans.

Pisces are known to be empathetic and wise, and this is perfectly fitting for Alfred, as Robin and even Batman always listen to his advice on matters. What's more, Alfred is rather gentle by temperament as well as intuitive, making him not only a fitting Pisces but a lovable character in the show.
