Sitcoms have always been a very popular genre of comedy, especially in recent years with shows like Modern Family and Brooklyn Nine-Nine gaining massive followings and instant success. And a big part of what makes sitcoms so enjoyable is how relatable the characters usually are.
Most of the time, sitcoms deal with everyday situations in storylines that viewers can gravitate to and connect with. Meanwhile, the quirky, lovable, or at times controversial characters each bring something new to the plot, which makes it easy for fans to see themselves in them. In the same way, each zodiac sign has something unique that separates them from the rest. There are several sitcom characters whose personalities are very distinct and thus perfectly capture the essence of each zodiac sign.
Aries: Winston Schmidt (New Girl)
Schmidt perfectly embodies the qualities of the fire sign Aries in New Girl. He's hardworking, determined, and has a fierce personality. Like a true Aries, Schmidt is driven by enthusiasm, while his unfaltering confidence and energetic nature have put him and the rest of the roommates in several tricky situations.
He's usually nice, but he can be very direct, especially when he's flirting with someone as his crude comments led to the infamous douche-bag jar. He can also be sweet and lovable, especially with his closest friends, but he has a very short temper and can sometimes come off too strong.
Taurus: Pam Beesly (The Office)
Pam Beesly is practical and methodical, which are two very common traits of people who share the sign of Taurus. She also has a lot of patience, as she has to deal with Michael's shenanigans every day. She is always the voice of reason, though she loves to participate in the occasional prank to pass the time.
However, like most Tauruses, Pam enjoys the finer things in life, and she continually sought ways to express her creativity and found solace in art. She painted the mural in the warehouse that she was really proud of, and she once had a showing for her art pieces.
Gemini: Haley Dunphy (Modern Family)
Haley's slow transformation over the years made her the perfect Gemini representative. Geminis come with a lot of sides and layers and Haley's dual nature is proof of that. She can be sweet, fun, and charming at times, but she has a quick wit and her cunning ways always help her to get what she wants.
However, her lack of commitment is one flaw that most Pisces share. She kept jumping from one thing to another without a real plan, like when she dropped out of college or when gave up on her half-started career in fashion.
Cancer: Nick Miller (New Girl)
Nick Miller has a charisma that makes him seem like the show's main character as he exhibits a lot of classic Cancer traits. Cancers just wouldn't be themselves without their self-deprecating sense of humor and Nick has truly mastered that.
Cancers are known to have a big imagination, which comes as no surprise, as Nick became a successful author and wrote several fantasy novels. But like any other Cancers, Nick struggles to find confidence and needs a lot of reassurance from his friends when he does something new, like when he asked Schmidt to read his novel and he was baffled that his friend didn't have any negative feedback.
Leo: Cameron Tucker (Modern Family)
One of the most dominant traits associated with Leos is their unfaltering confidence. Cameron Tucker has always been the life of the party, and he enjoys being the center of attention. He is a natural leader, and he truly thrived in his job as a football Coach.
As a Leo, Cameron is a true entertainer, and he truly shines in the spotlight, especially when he gets to put on his favorite wig and clown shoes as Fizbo the clown. Although some may call him a little melodramatic, he would probably say that the word "passionate" provides a better description of his antics.
Virgo: Claire Dunphy (Modern Family)
Claire Dunphy is sensible (most of the time), very organized and loves being in control. Like most Virgos, she tends to be a bit judgmental, especially when it comes to her daughter, Haley, and her boyfriend, but her criticism comes from a place of love as she wanted the best for her.
Claire is very hard-working and quickly adapted to her new job after spending years as a stay-at-home mom. However, she has a hard time expressing emotions properly, like the time when her neighbor died and she couldn't stop herself from smiling.
Libra: Rachel Green (Friends)
Even though Rachel's official zodiac sign is most probably Taurus, a lot of her personality traits come closer to Libra. She values good friendships more than anything, she's fiercely loyal, and undeniably charming.
Rachel was used to a very different lifestyle before moving in with Monica, but like a true Libra, she managed to adapt with relative ease. She went from a life of luxury to working at a minimum wage job, and she quickly adapted to a working-class life. Although she was a bit indecisive at first, which is something that most Libras struggle with daily, she eventually found her niche in fashion and began her dream career.
Scorpio: Rosa Diaz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
Rosa Diaz is an easy character to place as her entire personality radiates Scorpio energy. She is mysterious and extremely secretive as the rest of the squad didn't even know where she lived or anything about her for the majority of the show. Rosa was never one to back away from a challenge and she was never afraid to stand up for what she believed in, like when she quit her job in the NYPD and tried to help people find justice as a personal investigator instead.
Scorpios take a long time to open up as she would rarely share personal information even with her closest friends. Not to mention that like a true Scorpio, Rosa makes anyone who wronged her pay, like the time she made Jake do 1,000 pushups for not following her plan.
Sagittarius: Tahani Al-Jamil (The Good Place)
Much like other Sagittariuses, Tahani can't stop talking about her travels and all the adventures she's been on, she's elegant and the life of the party. However, she is stubborn and annoyingly honest at times and she shamelessly walks the line between truthful and rude.
Although she may seem like the most confident person in the room, her attitude sterns from her desire to hide her insecurities as she's constantly worried about what other people think of her. But by the end of the show, she learned to be truly and unapologetically herself and she no longer cared what other people thought about her which made her the perfect Sagittarius representative.
Capricorn: Amy Santiago (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
Amy Santiago is a textbook Capricorn. She's reliable and clever but she might come off as condescending at times and she tends to stress out about the little things. Amy is very competitive, as seen in her constant banter with Jake in the earlier seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine as well as in her dedication to winning the annual Halloween heist.
Like a lot of Capricorns, she put her career above everything as she stayed true to her ambition to become a Sargent despite how many obstacles she faced. Throughout the show, Amy was always organized and ready to face any situation with an oddly detailed binder and a ten steps plan.
Aquarius: Phoebe Buffay (Friends)
There has never been an easier character to place than Phoebe Buffet as everything about her personality screams Aquarius. She is bubbly and kind and she never fails to surprise her friends with her adventures backstory. She's naturally carefree and independent, she values her friends more than anything and she always has some good advice to give. There are actually a lot of life lessons fans can learn from Phoebe.
Although she might be coming off a bit aloof at times, Phoebe remains true to herself and she's truly marching at the beat of her own drum like a true Aquarius. She never felt the need to conform to social norms and she tends to stray away from conventional things like having a stable job as she tried a lot of different careers.
Pisces: Jessica Day (New Girl)
Jess has a very distinct personality and she can easily be compared to the sign Pisces as they share several characteristics. She's incredibly emotional, kind, and supportive but she tends to be a bit patronizing and judgemental. This is especially true when it comes to Cece who follows a very different lifestyle than her.
Like any Pisces, Jess has a way with people and she can form deep connections with the most unlikely individuals. She's very caring to the point of being overbearing at times but she always has good intentions at heart. She's also very compassionate and sympathetic, two traits that prove to be very useful in her career as a teacher.
