Scrubs has experienced a bit of a resurgence lately, thanks to the rewatch podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends, that is hosted by Zach Braff and Donald Faison. It serves as an excellent reminder of just how funny and emotional Scrubs was back in the day.

It's also an excellent reminder of the well-rounded nature of each of the characters. Featuring a large ensemble and frequently recurring supporting characters, Scrubs could have easily leaned into archetypes. Instead, everyone is three-dimensional and worth rooting for. They also align perfectly with some of the signs of the Chinese zodiac. Find out which character you'd relate to the most.

Rat: Ben

Brendan Fraser Scrubs

First up is Ben, the character who appeared the least on Scrubs of anyone on this list. Played by Brendan Fraser, the character of Ben was crucial for showing just how much Dr. Cox cared about the people in his life.

Ben was very goofy and always loved to tease the people around him. However, he always led his actions with kindness and a good-natured attitude, making him identify best with the characteristics of the Rat.

Ox: Dr. Cox

Scrubs Dr. Perry Cox

Speaking of Dr. Cox, he's absolutely an Ox (and not just because it rhymes with his name). As mentioned above, Cox pretends to be an unfeeling veteran, but he actually cares more than anyone.

On top of this, Dr. Cox is strong-willed and hellbent on doing the best job he can at Sacred Heart. That's the hallmark of those born in the Year of the Ox.

Tiger: The Todd

Robert Maschio

The Todd is a slightly enigmatic character, but he is still fairly easy to understand at the surface level. He is confident and foul-mouthed and a total "bro" in the surgery wing.

The Todd connects best to the Tiger sign because of his strong level of confidence. His confidence might be misguided, but it persists in him all the same.

Rabbit: Elliot

For a big portion of Scrubs' run, Elliot was the deer-in-the-headlights type of character who was constantly nervous about letting down her superiors and failing at her job. That's why she's a Rabbit, a modest and sensitive sign that always wants to do their best.

She has a lot of responsibility and often feels that she doesn't rise up to it. Her meekness also makes her like a Rabbit, but her confidence does grow over time.

Dragon: Turk

Donald Faison

There must just be something about surgeons and confidence in the world of Scrubs because Turk is an exceedingly confident figure. His confidence never comes at the expense of his smarts as a surgeon, though.

One of Turk's iconic moments is his dance to "Poison" and this alone shows how much enthusiasm and energy he has. He's an apt Dragon.

Snake: Janitor

The Janitor is probably the easiest character to place in the Chinese Zodiac. He's 100 percent a Snake and it is unlikely that he could be anything else.

The Janitor is a walking enigma and a bundle of lies and contradictions. He always thinks he's providing sage advice to J.D., but his wisdom always comes second to his need to be a sarcastic antagonist.

Horse: J.D.

Scrubs J.D. in My Cold Shower

J.D., the main character of Scrubs, is definitely a figurehead and a complete Horse when it comes to the Chinese zodiac. Horses are known for their immense energy and their overly animated personalities. Sound like J.D.?

Granted, he's unabashedly himself and not afraid to be goofy in terms of putting down his own masculinity. This level of enthusiasm and self-deprecating humor definitely make him a Horse.

Goat: Ted

Ted competes for his office with Kelso's dog Buster in Scrubs

Ted is the sad sack of the hospital and his ability to be sympathetic and garner sympathy from those around him makes him a Goat. He is a sympathetic character because the audience frequently feels bad for him, even when the characters don't.

Sympathy is a shimmering example of a Goat and Ted's gentle demeanor also helps him attain this status. His portrayal by the late Sam Lloyd was always endlessly endearing.

Monkey: Jordan

Those born in the Year of the Monkey have many qualities, but Jordan best embodies this sign's sharpness, in terms of her intelligence and intuition. She's also sharp when it comes to her interactions with others.

A bit cold and distant, it's hard to forge a connection with Jordan. This makes her a strong Monkey, even if sharpness is paramount above her other traits.

Rooster: Carla

Carla talks to Elliot in Scrubs

Carla is the heart of Sacred Heart. As the nurse with the biggest role in the show, it's undeniable that she is one of the key figures who keeps Sacred Heart operating smoothly.

This is why she is a Rooster. Roosters are always working hard and aware of their surroundings at all times. That describes Carla perfectly.

Dog: Dr. Kelso

Dr. Kelso, at first glance, seems like an exacerbated version of Dr. Cox, with even more cruelty and carelessness. However, he does care, it's just that his tactics are often mistaken for aloofness.

In fact, he's actually just honest. He tells it like it is and suffers no fools. This level of prudence is why Dr. Kelso is an undeniable Dog.

Pig: Laverne

Lastly, there is Laverne, another nurse at Sacred Heart whose role on Scrubs changes quite a bit over time. However, she is always a representative of the Year of the Pig because of how diligently she works.

Few people work as hard as Laverne and she always extends compassion to the patients, even if not her colleagues. This is why she's a perfect Pig.
