Warning: This article contains spoilers for Moonfall.

The master of disaster Roland Emmerich is back at it with Moonfall, another end-of-the-world doomsday scenario in which the moon falls out of orbit and threatens major catastrophic damage on Earth. Tasked with saving the day is a trio of experts, including Jocinda Fowler (Halle Berry), who must make key decisions in the nick of time or else face cataclysmic consequences.

While most of the characters in the film are military and aeronautical types, their underlying humanity shines through time and again in ways that reinforce their specific personalities and natural characteristics. The real question is: how do the characters' true natures align with those of the movie's viewers?

Aries - Jocinda Fowler

Jo wears a blue NASA shirt on the ship in Moonfall

As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries represents fearless leadership and ultra-confident rulership. Not only does Halle Berry typify these traits with some of her best movies and by being the number one movie star on the call sheet, but her character Jocinda "Jo" Fowler is a heroic leader who saves the day with brimming courage, compassion, and ambition.

Without her creativity, honesty, and optimism - all chief hallmarks of Aries - Jo never would have managed to perform her heroic rescue mission as NASA's Deputy Director. She not only makes key decisions on Brian and KC's behalf to quell the swarm, but she does so with relentless determination.

Taurus - Brian Harper

Brian floats in a space suit in Moonfall

Taurus is known for their vast intelligence, unwavering loyalty, and reliability: two of which are Brian Harper's biggest traits in Moonfall. The disgraced astronaut has one of the biggest redemption arcs when, after being demoted to a guide at the Griffith Observatory, he gets to join the NASA mission to save the moon.

Brian redeems himself by displaying extremely dependable Taurean traits, whether he is showing tremendous grace under fire as a secondary leader or working diligently to complete the mission successfully. Moreover, it is Brian's bullish stubbornness to stay in the aeronautical field for ten years before getting a second chance that proves his Taurean traits.

Gemini - Michelle

Michelle protects Jimmy in the snow in Moonfall

As the clever Chinese exchange student and caretaker for Jo's son Jimmy, Michelle (Wenwen Yu) uses her dual nature to bridge two cultures through language. Between this and her social extroversion, it would be no surprise if she were a Gemini.

Gemini is often hailed as the quick-witted social butterfly of the zodiac, qualities Michelle exudes in the film. Gemini's biggest trait is adaptability, which Michelle certainly showcases in tangentially joining an international mission in her second language.

Cancer - Brenda Lopez

Tom, Brenda, and Harper look up into the sky in Moonfall

Known as The Homebody, Cancer is one of the most caring, compassionate, and nurturing signs of the zodiac. Cue Brenda Lopez (Carolina Bartczak), Brian's ex-wife and Sonny's (Charlie Plummer) mother, who remains grounded during the harrowing mission. As Tom's (Michael Peña) wife to boot, she expresses grave concern for all involved.

Meant as a way to bolster the domestic dramatic stakes in contrast to the outer-space spectacle, Brenda typifies Cancer's rule of The Fourth House of the Home Life.

Leo - General Doug Davidson

General Davidson appears in a green hall in Moonfall

Leo is a dominant, supremely confident natural-born leader who exudes excessive pride. No description better applies to General Doug Davidson (Eme Ikwuakor), the decorated Four-Star General and one-time Chief of Staff in the U.S. Air Force who used to be married to Jo.

Leos also express overwhelming love and warmth to their family members, which Doug shows at the end of Moonfall by disobeying orders to deliver a nuclear strike so he can save Jo's life.

Virgo - Lt. Colonel Reed

The space station seen in Moonfall

As the humble and self-sacrificing soldier ordered to deliver the deadly EMP set to be detonated on the moon, Lieutenant Colonel Reed (Andreas Apergis) may very well be a Virgo in the outer space survival movie. Virgo men, in particular, are said to be adventurous and extremely hardworking, which Reed certainly typifies.

Thankfully, Reed's brazen task was interrupted by KC at the last moment, who detonated the EMP himself. Still, Reed was ready to complete his duty like any quick-thinking and problem-solving Virgo.

Libra - Holdenfield

Holdenfield spills secrets in Moonfall

Known for their diplomatic grace and a firm sense of justice, Libras are also praised for their superior intelligence. In the popular space travel movie, no character better fits the bill than Holdenfield (Donald Sutherland), a former NASA operative who uses his crucial knowledge of the moon conspiracy for the greater good.

When Holdenfield reveals the mystery of the dark side of the moon, he does so at the risk of his own career but for the benefit of humanity as a whole, reinforcing his harmonious Libran nature.

Scorpio - KC Houseman

KC peers through a window in Moonfall

Scorpios are often noted for their bold creativity, mysterious nature, and profound thinking. In the anticipated 2022 movie Moonfall, KC Houseman (John Bradley) qualifies as the resident conspiracy theorist out to prove that the moon is a man-made megastructure. As such, he has all the Scorpionic traits one can think of.

Incredibly secretive, discreet, and passionate in his beliefs, KC ultimately becomes vindicated when his outlandish theory proves true. Scorpios are also hailed for standing firm in their beliefs despite outside pressure, which is precisely what KC does throughout the film.

Sagittarius - Gabriella Auclair

Brian, Jo, KC, and Gabby join the search in Moonfall

Right up there with Aries and Leo, the bravest and most heroic zodiacs, Sagittarius is also hailed for its adventurous risk-taking. As the gallant military captain who spearheads the search and rescue mission of Brian and KC, Gabriella Auclair (Maxim Roy) is Sagittarian through and through.

As a military captain in charge of commanding countless troops, Auclair fully grasps the need to showcase superior emotional intelligence and good judgment, which is another hallmark of Sagittarius.

Capricorn - Tom Lopez

Tom looks up in terror in Moonfall

When it comes to the zodiac signs who are the most successful at business, Capricorn usually tops the list of the best hustlers. In Moonfall, Tom Lopez is a wealthy entrepreneur who runs a successful Lexus dealership with a fancy showroom. Ipso facto, Tom could easily be a Capricorn.

Organized, efficient, pragmatic, and goal-driven, Tom always keeps the big picture in mind and never wavers from taking a task head-on. He also shows tremendous loyalty to Brenda even when she expresses concern for Brian, which is another Capricorn quality.

Aquarius - Sonny Harper

Sonny and Kelly look up into the sky in Moonfall

As an air sign that knows no boundaries, Aquarius often exudes an independent, self-reliant, and rebellious streak. In Moonfall, Sonny Harper's brazen disregard for the rules, as seen when he is caught speeding in his car on live television, certainly constitutes such behavior.

While he does not have a ton of screentime, Sonny functions as a way to establish the stakes of Brian and Brenda's personal domestic storyline, with his Aquarian free-spirit countering his father's more rigid Taurean mien.

Pisces - Albert Hutchings

Stephen Bogaert, who portrays Hutchings in Moonfall, leans against a wall

Known as The Empath, Pisces has a great sense of emotional intelligence that allows them to genuinely care for others. At a critical junction in Moonfall, NASA Director Albert Hutchings (Stephen Bogaert) has the wherewithal to know that the mission would be in better hands if he stepped aside and let Jo run the show. He does, and the mission succeeds.

Indeed, in the direst moment, Albert channels his Piscean wisdom, compassion, and sympathy to do what is best for the overall mission rather than himself, a selfless hallmark of the zodiac sign.
