Thanks to its rich history and traditions, Halloween provides a lot of inspiration for horror movies. They're an obvious match for the spooky season, but the Halloween holiday also comes up in films outside of the horror genre such as comedy and family-friendly fantasies.

There are a number of prominent characters from Halloween movies and scenes, be they supernatural beings or humans caught up in a Halloween adventure. Each character varies in personality as well as appearance, so there's guaranteed to be one to suit each sign of the Zodiac.

Aries: Angela Franklin (Night Of The Demons)

Night of the Demons is a 1980s horror movie that could not get any more spooky. A group of teenagers throws a Halloween party in an abandoned mortuary that just happens to have a grisly past, and, to top it all off, they summon a demon that possesses the party's host, Angela. While the movie itself wasn't well-received, Angela was a stand-out character, and she's considered one of the best goth characters in movies.

Whether she is possessed or not, Angela exhibits traits that are associated with the Aries sign. Before the party, Angela was energetic yet rather aggressive and loud-mouthed towards her peers. Angela is also assertive, more evident when she's demonically possessed.

Taurus: The Ghostly Trio (Casper)

Fatso, Stretch and Stinky in the movie Casper

Based on the Harvey comics, the ghost movie Casper is something of a nostalgic '90s gem, with the movie's final moments taking place during Kat's high school Halloween party. Providing much of the movie's comic relief are Casper's obnoxious uncles Stretch, Fatso, and Stinky, known as the Ghostly Trio.

Casper's uncles collectively represent the Taurus sign through their stubbornness towards having "fleshies" in their home and perseverance as ghosts who haven't crossed over. They also show to love food—especially Fatso—which is also a characteristic associated with Taurus. Finally, Taureans are said to be possessive, and these three demonstrate this both over their home and possessing Kat's father.

Gemini: Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

As the Pumpkin King and leader of the Halloween Town festivities, Jack Skellington is possibly the most iconic Halloween movie character ever. Created by gothic director Tim Burton, the beloved Halloween movie The Nightmare Before Christmas focuses on Jack getting bored of Halloween and attempting to take over another holiday—Christmas.

Geminis are known for their expressive nature, and Jack is a very expressive character, be it through his actions or his songs. He is also very endearingly curious and eager to change things, traits also both associated with Gemini.

Cancer: Hubie Dubois (Hubie Halloween)

Adam Sandler is rather notorious for his critically panned comedies, but, for many, Hubie Halloween proved to be an unexpectedly fun watch. The movie is about Hubie, a Halloween fan and the town's ridiculed misfit, who ends up having to save the town when things start to go bump in the night one particular Halloween.

Those under the Cancer sign are often kind and gentle, and, despite almost every resident mocking or undermining him, Hubie remains a kind and good-hearted man. Yet, ironically, although he loves Halloween, Hubie is something of a scaredy-cat. This could also be a reflection fo the Cancer sign's soft and gentle side.

Leo: Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus)

Winifred Sanderson (Bette Midler) - Hocus Pocus

Disney's Hocus Pocus is one of the most famous Halloween movies to date, and for a good reason. The movie is overflowing with Halloween spirit, and the Sanderson sisters, the three witches accidentally bought back to life to wreak havoc in the town, are utterly delightful to watch. As Winifred Sanderson, Hocus Pocus proves to be one of Bette Midler's best movies on IMDb.

As the leader of the trio with her iconic ring of fiery red hair, Winifred can easily represent the Leo sign. She proves to be very dramatic and theatrical, as demonstrated by her music number at the Halloween party. She's also very self-assured, which is a defining Leo trait.

Virgo: Michael Myers (Halloween)

Michael Myers raises a knife in Halloween

The Halloween franchise is one of the most notable horror slasher movie series in cinema history, with the first in the series introducing one of horror's most notorious characters, Michael Myers. Conjuring fear and dread without having to utter a single word, it is fair to say that Michael Myers is one of the best silent characters to appear on the screen to date.

Myers represents the Virgo sign because of his methodical approach to hunting and killing his victims. Virgos are supposedly analytical and clever, and Myers proves himself to be just that, going as far as disappearing without a trace.

Libra: Sam (Trick R Treat)

Trick r Treat is an underrated horror anthology movie from 2007 which hosts a collection of scary stories, all set in a nonlinear fashion on Halloween night in a fictional American town. While characters and narratives overlap from time to time, the common element that unites all these stories is the mysterious trick or treater in a burlap costume, Sam.

Libra is the sign of justice, and Sam carries out justice in an unusual, sinister manner. He enforces the 'rules' of Halloween—such as giving candy to trick or treaters—and will punish those who go against them. As this is a horror movie, these punishments are undoubtedly brutal. Sam is also merciful to those who do honor Halloween or show signs of redemption.

Scorpio: Regina George Dressed As A Bunny (Mean Girls)

Aaron and Regina in Mean Girls

Not all Halloween villains are physical monsters, and Regina George proves this. The "Queen Bee" of North Shore High School in the teen cult hit Mean GirlsRegina may appear to be the perfect girl, but she is, in fact, very two-faced and manipulative.

Being resourceful and possessive, Regina proves herself to be a Scorpio throughout the movie, but it is the Halloween party scene that really demonstrates this. When she learns that her ex-boyfriend Aaron invited Cady to the party, Regina quickly makes up stories about her to put Aaron off, and she seals the deal by kissing Aaron in front of a distraught Cady.

Sagittarius: Sam (A Cinderella Story)

Though it's not exactly a critically acclaimed success, A Cinderella Story remains a beloved movie among many for its noughties nostalgia and Jennifer Coolidge's ghastly yet entertaining portrayal as the wicked stepmother character. The key scene of the fairy tale, the Royal Ball, takes the form of a high school Halloween party in which the Cinderella of the story, Sam, turns up wearing a lovely ballgown and ornate mask.

Sam doesn't let anyone get her down, whether it's her awful step-family or the backstabbing school cheerleaders, and will stop at nothing to achieve her dream of going to Princeton. Her honesty, independence, and enthusiasm reflect qualities most associated with Sagittarius.

Capricorn: The Headless Horseman (The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad)

Disney's scary version of the Headless Horseman holding his head

One of the most famous Halloween stories is The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving, and Tim Burton's adaptation is a gothic masterpiece, though the Disney version perhaps captures the Halloween spirit the most. This vengeful ghost is certainly a Disney character suited to live in Halloween Town.

Supposedly, Capricorns are focused and tenacious individuals, and this cannot be more apparent than the restless spirit of the Headless Horseman as he searches for his head—or any head, for that matter.

Aquarius: Aggie Cromwell (Halloweentown)

Disney Channel movie Halloweentown is a classic Halloween movie aimed at children. Full of magic and spooks, the story focuses on the adolescent Marnie as she learns that she is a half-witch, and her witch grandmother Agatha "Aggie" Cromwell (Debbie Reynolds) wants to train her to be a witch before she turns thirteen.

Witch Aggie is a good-hearted woman, something of which those under Aquarius are often known to be. But, Aquarians are most known for their originality and independence, and Agatha really sums up perfectly with her iconic quote: "being normal is vastly overrated."

Pisces: Sally (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas

Red-headed ragdoll Sally is the lovable heroine of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Adoring Jack from afar while constantly escaping the clutches of her nasty creator, Sally is the most rational resident of Halloween Town, and she tries to put a stop to Jack's plans to take over Christmas.

Sally is apprehensive about Jack's Christmas plans to begin with, but a premonition solidifies those doubts. This demonstrates intuition, a quality most associated with those born under the Pisces sign. Furthermore, Pisces are meant to be sympathetic, and Sally very clearly demonstrates this towards her beloved Pumpkin King.
