In the 2021 movie Free Guy, characters exist in both a video game called Free City and the "real world." Aside from the charismatic performances and high-concept story, what made the movie a hit with audiences were the complex characters, both virtual and real, who were looking for love, acceptance, and the reason for their existence.

Free Guy puts real people and NPCs in scenarios where they face tests and how they react can determine their survival. AI simulations fall in love while humans betray each other, but all of the characters show tell-tale behaviors that reveal their zodiac traits.

Virgo - Guy

Ryan Reynolds seeing the video game world in Free Guy.

The main character in the world of Free Guy is Guy himself, who is an AI who believed he lived in the real world. When Molotov Girl showed up and revealed his entire existence was a simulation, he ended up as the only sentient NPC in Free City who could save his virtual reality.

In a performance that's bound to be considered among the actor's top 10 best roles, Ryan Reynolds' Guy shares the Virgo trait of an eagerness to learn new things and doing his absolute best to achieve his dreams. He also possesses negative Virgo characteristics that make his life harder than it needs to be, as he is overly critical of himself and is not happy living in a fantasy world.

Aries - Millie / Molotov Girl

Molotov Girl in her supply room in Free Guy.

An Aries is an adventurous person who is willing to take great risks and Molotov Girl is the perfect embodiment of that sign's audacious spirit. Played by Jodie Comer in Free Guy, Millie was one of the people responsible for the creation of the AI intelligence in Free City and she isn't shy about sharing this fact with the rest of the world.

Millie shares the Aries traits of being brave and energetic as well as having a positive attitude that will not allow her to fail. She also has more negative Aries traits, including her confrontational attitude that gets her into trouble, and a stubborn will that makes her hard to deal with at times.

Cancer - Walter "Keys" McKeys

Keys working on his computer with Millie in Free Guy.

The smartest character in Free Guy is Joe Keery's Keys, the young man who created the AI that became Guy and the programming that allowed the video game characters to develop into free-thinking NPCs. Keys possesses perhaps the most common of the Cancer zodiac sign: a brilliant creative mind.

Conversely, he is moody, pessimistic, and emotionally distant, all of which bedevil a typical Cancer's creative process. Although it took Keys a long time to help Millie, he eventually did the right thing. In the film's climax, he proved to be intuitive and faithful to her by joining her fight as any good Cancer would.

Leo - Antwan

Antwan on the Free Guy movie poster.

Antwan is a Leo to the core. Played by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, he is a born leader with limitless energy as he built his company up into one of the most successful video game enterprises in the world. He is also the villain in the film, but that also plays into the worst traits of the lion sign.

A typical Leo is a person who has a huge ego that often gets in the way of success. This was Antwan's downfall in Free Guy as his dominating personality and lack of patience, also both Leo traits, combined with his inflated self-importance led to him failing to stop Millie and Keys from regaining what was theirs in the video game.

Taurus - Buddy

Lil Rey Howery's Buddy is the heart and soul of Free Guy. He is who the viewers relate to best, as he lives in a world that is bigger than him and he is scared of the changes coming around him. On the zodiac chart, Buddy fits in best as a Taurus in both his positive and negative traits.

Buddy, a security guard who is the best friend of Guy, is a generous and dependable friend as most Taurus signs are. He is also someone who patiently listens and is willing to give the best advice to Guy when it's needed. Conversely, Buddy is also depicted at his job as being somewhat stubborn and lazy, which are both negative traits of the Taurus.

Scorpio - Mouser

Keys talking to Antwan and Mouser in Free Guy.

Mouser was torn between being a close friend of Keys and the right-hand of the villain, Antwan. He worked hard with Keys to try to bring down Guy and then had to choose a side in the end when Guy is revealed to be good. On the zodiac, Mouser is a Scorpio who has both positive and negative qualities.

As played by Utkarsh Ambudkar, Mouser is focused and ambitious, which is required to meet the relentless demands of someone as taxing as Antwan. The video game coder also possesses the Scorpio trait of being faithful to his friends Keys and Millie when learning the truth about his deceitful boss.

Sagittarius - Dude

Dude attacking Guy in Free Guy.

Dude is a super-strong, less intelligent version of Guy. Although Antwan eventually tasked Dude to neutralize Guy, the buff bodybuilder turned into another charming Ryan Reynolds superhero who viewers can root for.

On the zodiac chart, Dude shares the positive and negative traits of a Sagittarius. Dude is straightforward and blunt, both of which are typical of a  Sagittarius. He is also careless, tactless, impatient, and inconsistent, all negative traits of this zodiac sign.

Gemini - "Gamer"

The gamer talking to someone off screen in Free Guy

Matty Cardarople's Gamer has two different personas in the movie: one as a real-life gamer and the other as an avatar that he pretends to be in the video game Free City. These dual identities naturally place him as a Gemini on the zodiac chart.

Gamer is versatile and enthusiastic when he gets into the game itself, and he tries to be witty and clever when he portrays his avatar. He also has Gemini traits as the real-world gamer, acting extremely superficial with no direction in his life.

Pisces - Bombshell

Bombshell and others in the park in Free Guy.

Camille Kostek's Bombshell first appears in Free Guy as a bank robber's shallow girlfriend in the game. When Guy stops the robbery, he tells her that she can do better than what her programming tells her to do. Inspired, she ditches her life of crime and vows to change for the better.

From what was seen of Bombshell, she fit the Pisces zodiac traits the best. She was sensitive and wanted to prove she was able to change. Also like a Pisces, she was idealistic and over-sensitive, which she tried and failed to change when the virtual world morphed around her.

Libra - Missy

Missy making coffee in Free Guy

Outside of Guy, no one proved change was possible inside the game more than Britne Oldford's Missy. She was the barista at the coffee shop that Guy went to every day. She only knew how to make one recipe and seemed stressed when asked for something different.

When Guy asked for a cappuccino, her AI kicked in and she learned this new skill. Her intuitive nature and imagination fit a Libra. She also showed that she could find love and proved to be idealistic when she pushed the other NPCs into action.

Aquarius - Masked Player in Alley

Hugh Jackman's masked player in Free Guy.

The Masked Player is who Molotov Girl went to when she wanted a map to find the part of the game that hid her programming. While almost nothing was revealed about the character, he still shows behavior consistent with an Aquarius.

As voiced by Hugh Jackman in a surprise cameo, the Masked Player is inventive and creative, which proved to be helpful when he had to get the information Millie needed to bring down Antwan. He is also aloof and stubborn, two other Aquarius traits, which lead to his eventual death.

Capricorn - Art Nerd

Destiny Claymore as a tech in Free Guy.

As the Art Nerd, rapper Destiny Claymore is one of the designers for Free City who helped design Dude. She is sarcastic yet professional, which are usually indicative of a Capricorn personality.

When Antwan makes outrageous demands in his attempt to nullify Guy, Art Nerd shows she is both practical and disciplined. When she is forced to launch the attack that will endanger Guy,  she reveals a pessimistic attitude that is also a key Capricorn trait.
