There's no better game to create the perfect character than Dungeons & Dragons. The possibilities in this table-top RPG are practically endless within the confines of its rules and guidelines. Still, only the sky's the limit when it comes to the different races and classes that the game offers for its players.
One of the most important parts of character creation is choosing a character's alignment. This determines so much of a character's behavior, including their moral compass and what motivates them in life. The alignment system is so popular it's even being used outside of the game itself, including with horoscopes.
Aries: Neutral Evil
Competitive and energetic, Aries is someone who forces others to try and keep up with them. They have great potential for both good and evil, but their eager and dynamic personality makes them particularly fantastic Neutral Evil characters.
Neutral Evil characters are highly selfish individuals. They tend to fight good and evil with other forms of evil, so long as they gain something from it. A classic Neutral Evil character is quick, smart and very competitive.
Taurus: Lawful Neutral
Taurus tends to be the backbone of any group they're part of. Others see them as reliable people, and strong even in the face of great challenge. This is why they make excellent fighters and soldiers in D&D.
In the same vein, soldiers are often categorized as Lawful Neutral. They're guided by a strict code of honor or whatever other guidelines their faction respects. They're loyal to these rules, and can be easily trusted by other members of their group.
Gemini: Neutral Good
All things are in balance in the heart of a Gemini, and this is what ultimately makes them Neutral Good. Expressive and kind-hearted, Geminis definitely lean on the good side of the alignment system, but value both freedom and rules, as long as they're in balance.
This is the very essence of a Neutral Good character. Their capacity to remain versatile and adapt to various settings by either acting according to law or against the rules makes them complex and curious individuals, just like a classic Gemini.
Cancer: Chaotic Good
With a strong sense of empathy and compassion, Cancers simply can't sit still in the face of what they perceive as injustice. They listen to their hearts and act according to them, which makes them highly intuitive individuals.
It's due to this that Cancers make for great Chaotic Good heroes. They believe in the freedom to do good, even if those efforts go against the very founding laws of the world. Their pursuit of good goes beyond rules and guidelines. Clerics in particular are a fitting class for Cancers.
Leo: Chaotic Evil
Strong-willed and used to getting their way, Leos were born to lead and to do as they please. Nothing stands in front of them, which is why by nature they're extremely chaotic. Their temperamental nature makes them excellent Chaotic Evil characters.
Chaotic Evil is an alignment often reserved for monsters and demons, creatures that don't necessarily have a moral compass. However, the alignment can also be interpreted as simply getting one's way every single time, and pushing one's will through, which is the very essence of Leo.
Virgo: Lawful Good
Virgos are a gift to have as friends due to their undying loyalty to those around them, firmly rooting them in the Lawful category by nature. Virgos value rules, and are highly practical individuals. Their goodness is reflected in their gentle personality.
Lawful Good characters are in many ways just like Virgos. They respect the law, and want to use the law to do good. Paladins fall into this category, which is why it's a great class for any Virgo to pick up in D&D.
Libra: Lawful Neutral
Libras also fall in the Lawful Neutral category like Taurus, but for very different reasons. Known for their incredible social skills, Libras are seen by other people as fair and diplomatic individuals. They're not bound to take sides, but rather objectively consider what is right.
Their gracious behavior makes them great negotiators who work within the confines of law and remain neutral at all times. This is why Libras fall into this category with ease, and represent the other side of the same coin with Taurus.
Scorpio: Lawful Evil
In many ways, Scorpio is the opposite of Libra. They're very cunning and resourceful, eager to get their way. Their stubbornness is what gets them around, which makes them ideal rulers or politicians.
Due to this, Lawful Evil is the perfect alignment for Scorpios. Characters in this category tend to be corrupt and selfish, manipulating laws and hierarchy for their own gain. Brave and ruthless, they're among the most intelligent characters out there.
Sagittarius: Chaotic Good
Sagittarius represents another side of the Chaotic Good alignment. People of this sign are usually hardcore extroverts, which makes them great speakers and bards in the world of D&D. Not just that, they're optimistic and funny, which is what puts them in the Chaotic Good category.
Sagittarius' chaotic side comes in the form of their willingness to be generous towards others. They would do anything for another person, even put themselves or others on the line to save someone.
Capricorn: True Neutral
Capricorns are the most individualistic people in the bunch, but in a very good way. They walk their own path and follow their own rules. Very rarely do they take a side in an argument or in a conflict, as they remain steadfast in their own beliefs.
Due to their serious, independent and disciplined nature, Capricorns could be classified as True Neutrals. They have their very own code of conduct, to which they are extremely loyal. Capricorns cannot be controlled, and so they naturally command respect from others.
Aquarius: Chaotic Neutral
Considered by many to be the rebel of the zodiac signs, Aquarius is obsessed with unique, creative ideas. Philosophy and self-reflection are some of their main pastimes, which makes them likely introverts and walkers of their own paths, similarly to Capricorns.
However, Aquarius has more of a chaotic trait to its neutrality. They tend to be less compromising than Capricorns, and strive for original, sometimes even strange ideas or conclusions. They make great druids or rangers for that reason alone.
Pisces: Chaotic Good
Pisces are often labelled as sensitive individuals, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Their sensitivity is what allows them to care for others and be their affectionate selves. Through empathy, they're easily some of the best people to befriend among the zodiac signs.
Due to this, Pisces are yet another side of the Chaotic Good alignment. Ultimately, they care about people and their emotions the most. Their drive to take care of others is so strong that they easily disregard rules in favor of helping someone.
