Here's all you need to know about where to watch Tron: Legacy, the much-anticipated sequel to the classic 1982 science fiction film.

The original Tron was a landmark achievement in film-making with its groundbreaking use of CGI and special effects. Tron also predicted with startling accuracy what roles personal computers would play in our lives for decades to come and how virtual spaces would threaten to consume us. Tron was a moderate success at the box office but developed a cult following in the years after its release.

Disney could deny fans no longer, and Tron: Legacy was finally released in late 2010. You can watch it now on Disney+.

A Lebowski Legacy and a Journey Through Time

Needless to say, since 1982, much has happened in the acting career of Jeff Bridges who played the central character of software engineer Kevin Flynn in the original Tron and Tron: Legacy. Bridges continued to make his mark in the science fiction world with the 1984 Starman, where he played an alien stranded on earth after an American missile shoots down his spacecraft. Bridges followed that Oscar-nominated performance with roles in The Big Lebowski, The Fisher King, and Crazy Heart.

Tron: Legacy was Joseph Kosinski's directorial debut, but viewers wouldn't know it by the polished and modern visual effects that rendered Tron's grid so convincingly. Kosinski's background in engineering, design, and animation has made him a prime target to direct subsequent films including another sci-fi spectacle Oblivion in 2013 and more recently the box office sensation Top Gun: Maverick.

In Tron: Legacy, Garrett Hedlund takes on the role of Jeff Bridges' son, as he investigates the disappearance of his father in the wondrous and dangerous grid. Tron: Legacy was an immediate box office success compared to the first Tron, earning around $400 million worldwide. Yet critics had a decidedly mixed reaction to the film, praising its special effects but noting that the action comes at expense of a compelling plot or developing most characters past their generic exteriors.

Tron: Uprising

Tron: Uprising was the most recent Disney Tron production to hit screens in 2012, as an animated TV series lasting one season. The video game- and comic book-inspired story revolves around Beck, a mechanic, who leads an uprising against the evil Clu. Since Tron: Uprising, there have been several reports of a third Tron movie in the early stages of production only to be followed by cancelations including a project involving Joseph Kosinski. However, Jared Leto's Tron 3 still seems to be progressing, so fans are undoubtedly hoping this endeavor doesn't end with more disappointment.
