Today we’re going to take a look at where to watch The Legend of Vox Machina and what possible streaming service you can find it on.

If you are into anime, or adult cartoon animation and are looking for a new series to watch, you really need to check out The Legend of Vox Machina if you haven’t already. We’re thinking this will appeal to fans of shows like Arcane or Invincible, or really any people out there who enjoy fantasy adult-animation. The series follows a rough-and-ready band of mercenaries as they travel through the realm of Tal’Dorei completing paid tasks you would expect mercenaries to carry out. However, this isn’t really a disciplined group of professional killers, they all have their own personal baggage which is exacerbated and made worse by their love of stale ale. With the highly anticipated season two on the horizon, now is a great chance to go back and watch season one to remind yourself where we left this motley crew. There are plenty of storylines running through season one, so do yourself a favor and have a quick recap before it all gets too much!

The Inspiration Behind The Legend Of Vox Machina

The Legend of Vox Machina is a little different from your standard fantasy animation, and the ‘adult’ part in its category description is certainly no joke. It deviates from the usual soft delivery one can expect to be included in a fantasy animation, but The Legend of Vox Machina is unapologetically crass. There are heinous amounts of graphic violence, plenty of cussing along the way and more cartoon nudity than you have ever seen before…. Probably. It makes a lasting impression, but it is certainly not for the faint-hearted, if you are offended by crassness then this is not the cartoon for you.

But where did the inspiration for The Legend of Vox Machina come from? Well, broadly speaking it came from Dungeons & Dragons and more specifically speaking, it came from the collective known as Critical Role. Critical Role are a group of friends, who all happen to be voice actors, who started streaming their D&D nights on Twitch. Their very first campaign was named Vox Machina, and it eventually ended up lasting over 100 episodes, gathering a large following in the process. The friends who got together and played through the Vox Machina Campaign included Laura Bailey, Taliesan Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Sam Riegal, Travis Willingham and Marisha Ray. Together these talented people helped launch the epic series that you just have to see.

Before any big studio came in to put money behind the animated series, Critical Role launched a crowdfunding campaign, so they could turn their campaign into an animated series. They smashed their initial goal thanks to the loyal following of D&D fans who tuned in every week to watch. The campaign influenced all kinds of different projects and there have been books, art guides and graphic novels released surrounding the campaign.
