Find out where you can catch the second season of Carnival Row and what streaming platform you can find it on here.

Carnival Row is a neo-noir series that tackles issues and problems currently present in society and is a reflection of the current world geopolitical situation. Carnival Row involves mythological begins, known as fae-folk, that have fled their homeland due to an encompassing war that is putting their lives in danger. Cara Delevigne is returning in season 2 as Vignette Stonemoss, a fae who fled Pact-occupied fae land in season 1. Other returning faces include Orlando Bloom as Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate who is an inspector of the Burgue Constabulary, he himself a half-fae who has been passing as a human since his time in the city. Creators Travis Beachman and René Echevarria have set up season 2 to crescendo into a dramatic conclusion with the small matter of freedom on the line as social tensions are ramped up due to the series of murders encouraged by the unjust suppression of fae-folk by Jonah Breakspear (Arty Froushan), the Burgue’s human leaders.

What's the Setting of Carnival Row?

Carnival Row is set in the fictional Republic of Burgue, which is believed to have been inspired by the conditions and architecture of Victorian London. The setting of Carnival Row certainly helps the grimy nature of the series and is a brilliant accompaniment to the neo-noir atmosphere that Beachman and Echevarria are looking to create.

Social tensions are high in Burgue as fae folk are immigrating to the city trying desperately to flee the brutal war that is going on in their homeland, the native population are less than hospitable to their new neighbors not understanding the perilous conditions they have had to flee. Orlando Bloom’s character, ‘Philo’ is half-fae himself, so understands the situation his people are in unlike most of his colleagues on the Burgue Constabulary.

Instead of being filmed in London, Carnival Row has exclusively been shot in Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. Filming for the second season has long been in the works, initially beginning in November 2019 but was ground to a halt in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
