Cursed items can be used in Demonologist to affect a ghost haunting a map, and could lead to a great advantage once players learn where to find them.

Cursed Possession items in Demonologist are special tools that help players defeat whatever ghost is haunting a certain map, but only if they can learn where to find this special equipment. Similar in scope to fellow horror title Phasmophobia, these items range from random cards that could buff a player's sanity or a mysterious board that reveals information about the spirit. Learning what each does and where they can be found on each map gives players a significant advantage.

There are three types of Cursed Possession Items; each determined randomly when loading into a map. This compares to the co-op horror gameplay of Phasmophobia in many ways, but these cursed items can be unique in their own way. The ones included in Demonologist are ten different Tarot Cards, an Ouija Board, and the Voodoo Doll for players to pick up and use against the ghost.

The spawn locations of every cursed item are set between fixed points on every map, giving players many possible spots to find each type of item. For example, if the cursed item at the Abandoned House ends up being the Tarot Cards, it will spawn in one of several places on the map, while the Ouija Board has different locations where it can be found.

As of this time of writing, the Hospital map remains the hardest for players to get to at level 10, meaning its cursed item locations have yet to be fully explored. Only a few spots have been proven to spawn nearly every type of item, but this could change in the future. As more maps are added by developer Clock Wizard Games, there will no doubt be more spots for important things like the ESG item in Demonologist and the cursed items to show up there as well.
