Gimmighoul is a new Ghost-type found within Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and can be tricky to find as they tend to hide in odd places. In addition, this Pokémon's habitat is listed as "Unknown" in the Pokédex, which can make it a bit harder to find for trainers hoping to catch every Pokémon. However, while Gimmighoul might be hard to find initially, it is relatively easy to catch once found.
Gimmighoul's Pokédex entry is number 391, putting it at the far end of the Pokédex for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. As a pure Ghost-type, Gimmighoul is fairly hard to damage, having immunity to Normal- and Fighting-type moves while also being resistant to Bug- and Poison-type moves. That could lead to Gimmighoul having a solid place on any trainer's team, especially if that trainer would like to try out a new Pokémon. However, Gimmighoul can be tricky to find and comes in two forms, the Chest Form and the Roaming Form.
Gimmighoul Locations in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Trainers hoping to catch Gimmighoul in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet should keep a careful eye and ear out for any sign of Gimmighoul's form. The Chest Form is much easier to spot, given its shiny appearance. The most popular places for Gimmighoul to appear are around ruins and watchtowers. Almost every one of those places throughout the game has a Gimmighoul hiding somewhere, so inspect each area carefully. An excellent place to start looking is at any of the four Lighthouses in Paldea. Climb the ladders and check the area carefully, particularly anywhere a tiny creature could hide. For trainers hoping to get an early Ghost-type, the Lighthouse at the end of Poco Path usually has a Gimmighoul at the top.
Gimmighoul is not the only Pokémon associated with coins but defeating one rewards trainers with Gimmighoul coins in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. These can also be found by scaring off the Roaming Form of the Pokémon. However, this form can be a bit trickier to spot as it easily blends into its surroundings. In that case, listen out for the sound of jingling coins or clinking metal. If that distinctive sound is heard, there is Gimmighoul around. The Roaming Form can usually be seen on signs, fence posts, on top of walls, in boxes, corners, or anywhere it can blend in or hide. That makes the distinctive noises even more crucial to spotting the tiny Pokémon.
Some Pokémon evolutions are harder to get than others, such as evolving Charcadet Into Armorouge in Pokémon Scarlet. For example, Trainers hoping to complete their Pokédex will have to be very patient to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo, which requires trainers to have 999 coins in their inventory to evolve Gimmighoul. However, these Pokémon are frequent enough throughout the land of Paldea to get the required amount of coins. Gimmighouls may be tricky, but by keeping a keen watch for a shiny coin, trainers can increase their chances of finding Gimmighoul throughout Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
